Protests demanding action in the NEET paper leak case and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan continued across the country on Friday. Student groups held demonstrations in several states, while authorities stepped up security measures in view of the protests.
Bihar: Heavy police deployment in Patna, students protest in Buxar
Student protests continued in Bihar, with demonstrations reported from several districts. In Buxar, students took to the streets carrying posters and banners demanding action over the NEET paper leak issue.
In Patna, security was heightened as police deployed around 200 personnel, along with water cannons, at JP Golambar. A flag march was conducted across the city, with senior officials, including the Patna DM, SSP and station house officers, monitoring the situation.
Police personnel were seen stopping and questioning students on roads as part of security measures. Drones were also used for surveillance in Bhagalpur.
Security was increased around the Bihar Assembly and railway stations. Several MLAs reportedly removed flags from their vehicles before entering the Assembly premises amid the ongoing protests.
Rajasthan: Lawyers join protests, university students continue hunger strike
In Rajasthan, lawyers staged protests against the police action on students protesting the NEET paper leak issue at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Lawyers associated with the Legal Department Congress at the Rajasthan High Court’s Jaipur Bench held a sit-in demonstration against the central government.
The lawyers also carried out a foot march from Gate No. 3 of the High Court to Ambedkar Circle in support of the protesting students. They said the future of students was being affected and demanded accountability.
Meanwhile, students of Rajasthan University in Jaipur continued their hunger strike under the leadership of student leader Shubham Rewad. The protest entered its second day on Friday.
