Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani has come out in support of the ongoing Gen-Z protests on social media after BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut criticised the students. Kangana had recently described the protesters’ language and the reels they shared on social media as “nauseating.”
Reacting to her remarks, Vishal said that before judging the students’ language, people should look at how they were treated during the protests. He alleged that students were lathi-charged, tear gas shells were fired at them, and stones were pelted.
‘You beat children on the streets, so you’ll get abuses’
Vishal Dadlani shared a strongly worded post on Instagram, writing, “Bad language!? You beat the children on the streets. Threw stones at them and then blamed them too. Fired bullets at them, used tear gas shells, and pellet guns. Your hired goons are still intimidating and beating them. You have earned these abuses yourself, my friend.”
He ended the post with a laughing emoji, taking a swipe at those criticising the students’ language.
Vishal questions paid campaigns and influencers
Vishal Dadlani also questioned the alleged campaigns targeting the protesting youth. In his post, he claimed that paid stories and social media influencers were being used to shape public opinion against the young protesters. According to him, attempting to justify such actions through sponsored campaigns was “even more pathetic.” Before Vishal, several other public figures had also criticized the police’s handling of the student protests.
Kangana called the new generation of women ‘Gutter Trash’
Earlier, BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut sparked controversy by referring to the new generation of Indian women as “gutter trash.” She alleged that many young women, in the name of imitating independent and career-oriented women, glorify drug use, alcohol consumption, and having relationships with multiple men as symbols of freedom.
In a post shared on her official Instagram Stories, Kangana wrote, “The most shameful thing is the behaviour of those young Hindu women who want to imitate the lives of independent and career-oriented women but do not want to take on the responsibilities that come with that freedom.”
She further said that truly independent women make unconventional choices, express their opinions freely, pursue careers beyond traditional expectations, and accept full responsibility for their decisions. According to Kangana, such women bear the consequences of their actions themselves rather than placing the burden on their parents or families.
Kangana calls the new generation of women ‘Gutter Generation’
Kangana further wrote that a new generation of Indian women, influenced by what she described as Western ideals, has emerged, calling them the “Gutter Generation.” According to her, many of them have little to contribute to society and lack both academic excellence and the mindset to shoulder responsibilities.
She also alleged that such women glorify drug use, alcohol consumption, and having relationships with multiple partners in the name of freedom. Kangana claimed they continue to depend on their parents financially while projecting themselves as independent. She added that true independence must be earned by accepting responsibility, and without it, such claims of freedom are meaningless.
Kangana on gen Z protests: ‘what kind of upbringing is this?’
On Monday, Kangana Ranaut also courted controversy over the ongoing student protests by questioning the upbringing of the younger generation. Sharing her views on social media, she wrote, “In my entire life, I have never seen so much ugliness together. These reels of Gen Z protests are disgusting. The way these people speak and the language they use, I have never seen before. Every frame is so strange and disturbing that it’s sickening to watch. Who is giving birth to them and who is raising them?”
Her remarks drew criticism online, with several users and public figures, including singer-composer Vishal Dadlani, responding to her comments in support of the protesting students.
Also made several statements against student protests
Kangana Ranaut had strongly opposed the student protests through social media. She said that it is wrong to pressure the government to remove or keep someone in a position. She said that Parliament is the right place for debating public issues, not protests.
Kangana had said that all these people are creating a ruckus and causing mischief at Jantar Mantar. The way the protest is going is not right. Actually, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has been protesting for several days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in support of the students’ demands. After the protest ended, Kangana criticized the language of the protesters.
Controversy began after the protest at Jantar Mantar Students protested at Jantar Mantar on July 20 against alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam under the banner of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). During the march towards Parliament, clashes occurred between police and protesters. After the police used force, several videos went viral on social media. Kangana had targeted the language used in these videos, after which social media users and Bollywood celebrities protested Kangana’s statement and raised their voices in support of the students.
