After villagers saved the woman’s life, they admitted her to the hospital.
A man allegedly beat his wife and threw her into a gorge from a bridge in an attempt to kill her in Rewa district. When she survived the fall, he allegedly attacked her repeatedly on the neck with a beer can, leaving her seriously injured.
The incident took place on the evening of July 31, 2026. According to Sohagi police, the woman’s three-year-old son was present during the attack. The child reportedly kept crying after seeing his injured mother.
The woman suffered serious injuries to her neck and other parts of her body and required around 25 stitches. She is currently undergoing treatment.
Couple had a love marriage in 2022
According to Sohagi police station in-charge Kamlesh Sahu, the victim, Sanya Kol, a resident of Shankargarh, married the accused, Satish Darji, in 2022 after a relationship.
The couple had a son in 2023. However, disputes between them increased over time. In 2024, the woman began living separately from her husband and son following marital differences.
The woman had recently returned from Punjab and was staying at a friend’s house. On July 31, she came to meet her son. She was scheduled to board a train from Shankargarh railway station to Punjab at around 7:30 pm, but missed it due to a delay.

Husband took her to Naina river bridge instead of Prayagraj
After missing the train, the husband allegedly called her and offered to drop her at Prayagraj, also known as Allahabad. Trusting him, the woman agreed to go with him.
The accused left on a motorcycle with his friend Deepak Singh, taking the woman and her child along. However, instead of heading towards Prayagraj, they reached the Naina River bridge under Sohagi police station limits.
According to police, the accused’s associate was already present there. The two men allegedly pushed the woman off the bridge into the gorge.
She survived the fall. The husband then allegedly went down to where she had fallen and repeatedly struck her neck with a beer can.
Villagers rescue injured woman
The woman suffered severe injuries in the attack. Hearing her screams, nearby villagers rushed to the spot and found her covered in blood.
She was bleeding from her neck and had multiple injuries on her body. Villagers rescued her and arranged for her to be taken to hospital.
The villagers also allegedly caught the woman’s husband and his associate. They assaulted the two men and slapped them repeatedly. A video of the incident has surfaced, showing the two accused sitting on the ground.

Husband and friend arrested
Sohagi police station in-charge Kamlesh Sahu said passers-by took the injured woman to the hospital.
Police said the husband allegedly attempted to kill his wife with the help of his associate following a domestic dispute. Both accused have been arrested, and the woman remains under treatment.
Further legal proceedings are underway.
