Ujjain Akhara Parishad Bans Gyandas

The troubles of Mahamandaleshwar Gyandas of Nirmohi Akhara, accused of rape in Ujjain, have further increased. The local Akhara Parishad has excommunicated him from the sadhu community.

Along with this, the Parishad has banned his entry into religious events held in ashrams, and akharas of Ujjain. The Parishad has also sent a letter to Mahant Rajendra Das Maharaj, president of Nirmohi Akhara, demanding the immediate removal of Gyandas from the post of Mahamandaleshwar.

A meeting of the Parishad was called after the Mahakal police station registered a case of rape based on the woman’s complaint. In the meeting, all office bearers unanimously decided on the action.

Mahant Dr. Rameshwar Das Maharaj, president of the Parishad, and Mahant Rameshwar Giri Maharaj, general secretary, stated that the accusation of rape against a woman is contrary to the dignity of the sadhu community and has harmed the prestige of the saint community.

Following the Parishad’s decision, Gyandas will now not be able to participate in any math, ashram, akhara, or religious event falling under the local Akhara Parishad.
