TV actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee has demanded strict punishment in the rape and murder case of a 16-year-old girl in Assam’s Hailakandi district. Sharing a post on X, the actress appealed to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to ensure that all those accused in the case are given the death penalty at the earliest.
The victim’s family has also sought capital punishment for the accused through a fast-track court trial. So far, the police have arrested three people, including the victim’s boyfriend, in connection with the case.

Expressing her anger over the incident, Devoleena Bhattacharjee shared a post on her official X account and tagged Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. She urged the government to ensure strict action against the accused, saying they should be punished in a way that sets a strong example for society.
The actress demanded the death penalty for the accused at the earliest, adding that such criminals should not be allowed to escape the law. Calling the incident a blot on humanity, she said those responsible deserve the harshest punishment.
Minor found covered in blood at home The incident occurred on the night of August 1. The victim’s family had gone to a relative’s event nearby. During the event, after an argument with her cousin, the girl returned home alone around 10:30 PM.
The family stayed back, thinking they would eat and then take food for her as well. When they reached home, their daughter was found in a blood-soaked condition. Due to severe injuries, it was difficult to even identify her.
Lover conspired with two accomplices During police interrogation, the main accused confessed to his crime. The accused had a love affair with the victim. He suspected that the girl also had a relationship with someone else.
To take revenge for this and teach her a lesson, he planned this crime with his two accomplices. The age of all three arrested accused is between 17 and 19 years.
