There is an age gap of about 20 years between Anurag Kashyap and his girlfriend Shubhra Shetty.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently opened up about his relationship with girlfriend Shubhrajyoti Shetty and his views on marriage. In an interview with Janice Sequeira, he was asked whether he would consider getting married for the third time.
When asked if he personally wanted to remarry, Anurag said his priority was not marriage but maintaining the relationship he already has. He said he is happy with Shubhrajyoti and wants to stay with her, adding that he is willing to do whatever it takes to make the relationship work.
Says his priorities have changed with age
Anurag also explained that his outlook on life has changed with age and experience. He said that at this stage of his life, his biggest concern is staying healthy and spending more time with the people he loves.
He added that he wants to remain healthy enough to outlive the people close to him, as losing them is one of the things he thinks about deeply.
Shubhra is associated with the film industry. She has also worked as an Assistant Director in Anurag Kashyap’s production company ‘Phantom Films’.
anurag says he does not want to lose the relationship
Anurag further said that he is content with what he and Shubhrajyoti have built together and does not want to risk losing their relationship. He said that as long as they have what they have now, he is happy and does not need anything more.
Age gap made Anurag more conscious
The couple also spoke about how their age difference has affected their relationship. Anurag admitted that there have been moments when they both became conscious of the age gap.
However, Shubhrajyoti quickly corrected him, saying that Anurag has been more conscious about it.
Agreeing with her, Anurag said his feelings about the age difference have changed as he has grown older. He explained that he had been conscious of it earlier as well and had even tried to avoid thinking about it.
He added that Shubhrajyoti does not appear to have aged much, which made him more aware of the difference as he grew older while she continued to look much the same.
Anurag and Shubhra were first seen together in 2015. Anurag made the relationship official in 2018.
Shubhra said that Anurag always encouraged her to live independently and understand herself. She said that Anurag did not want their relationship to become her identity.
According to Shubhra, He can be confident about life because he has endured everything. He knows what love is not, and therefore he can understand that this is love. But I couldn’t do that because I was in my 20s, and at that age, you are understanding yourself.
He said, “That’s why he insisted that I go out, and if I had to find my own way back to him, I should do so.”
Anurag Kashyap’s Previous Marriages
Let us tell you that Anurag Kashyap has been married twice. His first marriage was in 1997 to film editor Aarti Bajaj. From this marriage, he has a daughter, Aaliyah. The couple divorced in 2009.
Anurag Kashyap’s daughter got married to her boyfriend Shane Gregoire on December 11, 2024, where he was seen with his ex-wife Aarti.
After this, Anurag married actress Kalki Koechlin in 2011. Anurag had worked with Kalki in the film ‘Dev D’.
Kalki made her Bollywood debut with this film. However, after a few years of marriage, they separated. On May 19, 2015, the couple filed for divorce in a family court in Mumbai.
Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin did not have any children from their marriage.
