Kangana Ranaut Supports Isha Koppikar; Actress Calls Herself Andhbhakt

Isha Koppikar recently shared a video in which she described herself as an ‘andhbhakt’ (blind devotee). After the video went viral, BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut supported the actress’s statement.

Isha, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019, shared the video on her official Instagram account. She said, “Namaste, I am Isha Koppikar, an andhbhakt. If loving your country, loving India and wanting it to progress is devotion, then yes, I am an andhbhakt. But my devotion is not towards any political party; it is towards my country.”

‘I can question the government and still love my country’

Isha said that she can question the government and disagree with its policies while continuing to love her country wholeheartedly.

She added that India is her home, where she has earned her livelihood and continues to do so, and where she has received numerous opportunities. Isha said she is therefore not ashamed of being proud of her country.

She also urged people to love and respect the place they live in and contribute to its progress. She said, “Be proud of the home you have chosen.”

Isha compares patriotism with a child’s mindset

Towards the end of the video, Isha compared people’s attitude towards their country with the way children view their parents.

She said there are two kinds of children: one who keeps counting what their parents did and did not give them, and another who makes the best of what they receive and tries to improve both their own life and their parents’ lives.

According to Isha, the difference lies in their mindset. She asked people to change their way of thinking and focus not only on what the country has given them, but also on what they have done for the country.

Kangana Ranaut praises Isha’s statement

Kangana Ranaut re-shared Isha’s video and expressed her support. She wrote, “Wow! It has been explained very well for me.”

Kangana then recalled several instances from her life when she said she had raised her voice against injustice. She mentioned speaking up against a teacher who used to hit children on the head with a stick, the 26/11 terror attacks, and the brutality faced by Nirbhaya.

She also said that she never blamed her parents for the limitations she faced. Instead, she worked towards creating the same standard of living for herself that her parents had provided for her.

Kangana added that she identifies with almost everyone she meets, loves her country and its people, and lives her life with the same simplicity.

Kangana faces criticism over ‘gutter-level’ remark about students

Kangana recently faced criticism over her remarks about students who attended the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ protest at Jantar Mantar.

She had described the protesters as ‘Generation Gutter’ and criticised the language and behaviour seen in videos from the protest. She also said that some of the protesters had little to contribute to the system and were not good at their studies.

Baba Ramdev asks, ‘What is her qualification?’

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has now criticised Kangana over her remarks. Speaking to TV9 Bharatvarsh, he questioned Kangana’s qualifications and said he did not want to comment further on her personal background.

Baba Ramdev said that calling the youth of the country ‘gutter-patter’ was wrong and reflected a disturbed mindset. He also said that members of Kangana’s party should take note of her remarks.

In 2006, Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna founded Patanjali Ayurved Limited.

‘Should I cover up her sins because she praises me?’

When asked about Kangana being an admirer of his yoga, Baba Ramdev said that her praise for him or yoga would not make him overlook what he considered to be her mistakes.

He also stressed that youth has no caste and includes people from every community and background. According to him, young people are a powerful force in the country and their importance cannot be denied.

Kangana later clarified her ‘gutter’ remark

After the controversy grew, Kangana clarified that she had not called the youth of the entire country ‘gutter-dwellers’. She said her comments were directed at a particular group present at the Jantar Mantar protest.

Kangana pointed out that around 10,000 people had gathered at the protest, while India’s youth population is estimated to be around 30 to 35 crore. She argued that it would therefore be incorrect to associate the entire Gen Z population with the protest.

She also said that people of different age groups were present around Jantar Mantar and questioned why the protest should be described as one representing the entire Gen Z population of the country.
