
NCERT has reconstituted a 20-member Textbook Development Team (TDT) to prepare new Political Science textbooks for classes 11 and 12, with Professor Sandeep Shastri appointed as the leader.
The new team will prepare the curriculum and books in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Dr Vanthangpui Khobung and Dr Subhash Singh will be the co-ordinators.
According to media reports, at least four members of the 20-member team have been associated with the RSS or its affiliated organizations. These include Yadunath Deshpande, Dr Prashant Divekar, Prof Vandana Mishra, and Dr Ravi Rameshchandra Shukla.
First, the class 11th book will be prepared, target by November 30
NCERT has set a target to prepare the Class 11 Political Science textbook by November 30, 2026. The Class 12 textbook is to be prepared by July 30, 2027.
The team includes academicians, teachers, and experts from universities, law schools, open-learning institutions, and government organizations.
Special emphasis on Indian knowledge system
The new Political Science textbooks will place special emphasis on topics related to Indian knowledge and culture.
In addition, subjects related to equality, inclusivity, value education, environment, and technology will also be taught. NCERT experts will also be consulted for preparing the books.
