Kannada star Yash’s ‘Toxic’ is feeling the impact of the negative reviews and ratings coming from audiences. The film opened strongly, earning around ₹101 crore in India on its first day. However, its collections dropped sharply on the second day, falling by nearly 64%.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Toxic’ earned a net ₹36.40 crore across all languages on Thursday, its second day. The film recorded 22,629 shows nationwide. On Wednesday, it had collected ₹101.10 crore. This means its Day 2 earnings were 63.99% lower than its opening-day collection.
₹164.50 crore gross in India in two days
Made on a reported budget of around ₹500 crore, ‘Toxic’ has collected ₹164.50 crore gross in India in two days, while its net collection stands at ₹137.50 crore. The film could benefit from Raksha Bandhan and the long weekend, although its negative word of mouth may affect its collections.
Hindi version leads, but collections fall
The Hindi version remained the biggest contributor on Day 2, but its earnings dropped sharply. It collected ₹55 crore net on Wednesday, while the figure fell to ₹23 crore on Thursday.
Overseas earnings also decline
‘Toxic’, starring Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth, also saw a drop in overseas collections. It earned ₹16.25 crore gross on Day 1 and ₹10 crore on Day 2.
Its two-day overseas gross stands at ₹26.25 crore. Including India, the film’s worldwide gross collection has reached ₹190.75 crore.
Day 2 collection less than half of ‘Dhurandhar 2’
‘Toxic’ came close to ‘Dhurandhar 2’ on its opening day. Aditya Dhar’s film earned ₹102.55 crore on Day 1, while ‘Toxic’ collected ₹101.10 crore.
However, the gap widened on Day 2. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ earned ₹80.72 crore, helped by positive word of mouth, while ‘Toxic’ managed ₹36.40 crore—less than half of its rival’s collection.
‘Awarapan 2’ earns ₹60 lakh on Day 14
Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Awarapan 2’ also saw its earnings decline on Thursday. The film earned ₹60 lakh net from 1,085 shows on its 14th day.
Its India gross collection has reached ₹171.90 crore, with a net collection of ₹144.25 crore. The film’s worldwide gross stands at ₹203.70 crore. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, it was made on a reported budget of ₹45 crore.
‘Bantwara 1947’ earns ₹3 lakh on Day 14
Sunny Deol’s ‘Bantwara 1947’ earned just ₹3 lakh from 126 shows on its 14th day. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film has so far collected ₹37.80 crore net in India.
Made on a reported budget of ₹150 crore, its worldwide gross collection currently stands at ₹53.88 crore.
Makers accused of removing negative BookMyShow ratings
Yash-starrer ‘Toxic’ has been facing negative reactions from audiences, with disappointing ratings reported across social media and other platforms. Amid this, the makers have been accused of getting the film’s BookMyShow rating removed.
The film reportedly had a 5.5 rating on BookMyShow until recently. The rating is now no longer visible, with only the like option appearing on the platform, while ratings for other films continue to be displayed. However, there has been no official confirmation that the makers were behind the removal.
BookMyShow rating disappears amid negative reviews
Social media users claimed that the rating for ‘Toxic’ was removed after the film received poor reviews. However, neither BookMyShow nor the film’s producers have provided any official explanation for why the rating is no longer visible.
An X user alleged, “BookMyShow has disabled the rating for the film Toxic. It was so bad that it got 5.5/10, the worst in BMS history.”
Earned ₹100 crore in a day, then why are there flop concerns?

Multiple postponements increased the anticipation
‘Toxic’ was initially scheduled to release on April 10, 2025, but the makers postponed it, saying more work was needed to improve its visual quality. It was later scheduled for March 19, 2026, the same day ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was set to release. The film was postponed again shortly before its release, with the makers citing the situation in the Middle East. It was then scheduled for June 4 before finally releasing on August 26.
The repeated delays kept fans waiting and built greater anticipation. However, after its release, some viewers felt that the story and visual effects did not match the expectations created by the long wait.
Strong cast, but characters fail to make an impact
The casting of ‘Toxic’ had been a talking point for a long time. Kannada star Yash was paired with Kiara Advani, while the film also features Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
For Kiara, the film marked her comeback after motherhood. She had also exited ‘Don 3’, one of Bollywood’s major franchises. Fans therefore expected her role in ‘Toxic’ to be strong and memorable.
However, many viewers were disappointed with her character. Kiara has limited screen time, and her role has been criticised for having little impact on the story. Some viewers felt that replacing her with another actress would not have made much difference to the film.

High expectations from a National Award-winning director
‘Toxic’ is directed by Geetu Mohandas, who won a National Award for her 2013 film ‘Liar’s Dice’. The film was also selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars. Given her previous work and critical acclaim, expectations from ‘Toxic’ were naturally high.
