An IndiGo flight from Doha to Bengaluru was diverted to Muscat on Thursday after the pilot suddenly fell ill and required immediate medical attention. The aircraft landed safely at Muscat Airport amid the medical emergency.
After landing, a medical team examined the pilot before taking them to a hospital. IndiGo said the pilot is now in stable condition.
The airline has arranged an alternate aircraft and a fresh crew to bring the passengers from Muscat to Bengaluru. A relief flight is being sent from Bengaluru for this purpose.

IndiGo said passengers waiting in Muscat are being provided with food and beverages and are receiving regular updates. The airline apologised for the inconvenience and said the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft remains its top priority.
The incident comes amid a series of recent emergency landings and technical problems involving Indian airlines.
Goa-Delhi IndiGo flight returned after engine issue
Two days earlier, IndiGo flight 6E 2102 from Goa to Delhi returned to Manohar International Airport shortly after takeoff after a technical issue was reported in one of its engines.
The flight took off at 9:16 am and landed safely back at the airport at 9:30 am. Flightradar24 data showed that the aircraft was flying at around 14,000 feet when it turned back. There were 229 passengers on board.
August 12: IndiGo flight makes emergency landing in Chennai
On August 12, an IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Chennai made an emergency landing at Chennai Airport after the pilot detected a failure in the left engine while approaching the airport.
The pilot alerted ATC, following which a full emergency was declared at 11:29 pm. The aircraft subsequently landed safely with 224 people on board.
August 4: Air India flight loses 300 feet, 17 injured
On August 4, an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi suddenly lost around 300 feet of altitude near Jharsuguda, Odisha.
The Airbus A320 was cruising at around 36,220 feet when the incident occurred. The aircraft later landed safely in Delhi, but 17 passengers were injured.
Air India initially attributed the incident to turbulence but later described it as a sudden loss of altitude during cruise. The DGCA is investigating the incident, while the exact cause remains unclear.
July 27: IndiGo Dubai-Mumbai flight makes emergency landing in Rajkot
On July 27, an IndiGo flight from Dubai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Rajkot Airport after the pilots received an alert about smoke in the aircraft’s lower cargo hold.
The crew declared an emergency and requested priority landing from Rajkot ATC. Fire tenders and medical teams were deployed near the runway as a precaution, and the aircraft landed safely.
