Mohammad Yasin Malik, the imprisoned leader of the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), has denied any involvement in the murder of a Kashmiri Pandit woman.
Instead, he has demanded that he be given the death penalty.
Malik, who is an accused in this murder case, has submitted a detailed 25-page document to the court. He is currently serving a prison sentence and remains the head of the banned JKLF.
Decided to divorce his wife as well
The 60-year-old Malik, who is held in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, also announced in his affidavit his decision to end his marriage to his wife, Mushaal Hussein Mullick.
He explained that his long imprisonment and a complete lack of contact with his family for the last eight years, due to having no access to phone calls or video conferencing, led to this decision.
In the same affidavit, Malik wrote to his wife, stating, “Before being hanged, I have decided to release you from the bond of our Nikah.” He also advised his daughter to speak with her grandparents for five minutes every day.
