Imagine being trapped underground for nine days, and then hearing rescuers at your door. That’s what happened in flood-hit Nepal.
Rescue teams pulled Sanjay Sah and Kabir Maharjan alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli-3A hydropower project on Friday after hearing voices from inside.
Around 42 workers were feared trapped there, making the rescue a major breakthrough. But Nepal’s disaster is far from over: 5,300+ people remain missing, 1,295 have died, and 12,038 have been evacuated. Chitwan has seen the most body recoveries, with 95 identified so far. READ MORE
UPI KYC deadline looms over small merchants fear payment disruption
A deadline is looming—and thousands of small businesses could feel the heat. Payment aggregators have asked the RBI to extend the September 15 deadline for merchants’ re-KYC.
Why the worry? Around 30–35% of small offline QR merchants may struggle to finish verification, while nearly 1 million online businesses could miss it too.
Paytm, PhonePe and Google Pay face the biggest challenge, especially in small towns where paperwork is often incomplete.

ISRO’s EOS-05 launched successfully after nearly 5 years
India has another satellite in the sky. ISRO successfully launched the EOS-05 imaging satellite at 2:55 am Thursday aboard the GSLV-F17 rocket from Sriharikota.
And the wait wasn’t long. Just 18 minutes after liftoff, EOS-05 reached orbit.
Weighing 2,367 kg, the satellite will capture wide-area images from 36,000 km, helping monitor India’s borders, including the Pakistan-China frontier, and support disaster response.

3. NEET-PG re-exam 2026 for Jaipur centre will be conducted today at 3 PM for 2,445 medical graduates affected by power failures at two examination centres. During the original exam on August 30, candidates at the two iON Digital Zone (iDZ) centres—Centre Nos. 41682 and 41683—experienced continuous internal power outages, disrupting the examination and prompting the retest.
4. President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers’ Awards 2026 on 82 exceptional educators from across the country tomorrow, September 5, 2026, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day
