The rainy spell continues in Madhya Pradesh on Friday as well. For the first time this season, one gate of the Bhadbhada Dam in Bhopal has been opened. Rivers and streams are in spate in many districts. In Chitrakoot, Satna, the Mandakini River is flowing above the danger mark.
In Bihar, about 5 lakh people are affected by floods across 16 districts. Eight major rivers, including the Ganga, are flowing above the danger mark. According to the Disaster Management Department, the water level of the Ganga in Patna could surpass its highest flood level recorded so far.
In UP, more than 10 rivers, including the Ganga and Yamuna, are in spate. Flood-like conditions prevail in 26 districts. In Kanpur, water from the Pandu River has entered several settlements. Here, more than 150 houses are submerged in 6 to 7 feet of water.
Heavy rain is occurring in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, due to which pilgrims have been stopped at safe locations. Meanwhile, traffic on the Badrinath National Highway has been affected due to continuous rain in Chamoli.
