Low-budget films are increasingly proving that a big box-office success does not always require a huge production budget. Hanu-Man is one such example. The film earned ₹72.88 crore net and ₹85.97 crore gross in India, despite being made on a budget of around ₹1.8–2 crore. This translates into a return of more than 500%.
Awarapan 2 also delivers strong returns
Hanu-Man has performed strongly despite its modest budget, even competing with much bigger films at the box office. Another recent example is Awarapan 2, which has earned ₹148.40 crore net in India and ₹210.20 crore worldwide. Made on a budget of around ₹65 crore, the film has delivered a return of about 128%.

6 Indian films that delivered big returns
The combined budget of these six Indian films was around ₹102 crore, while their total earnings reached nearly ₹756 crore. This means they earned roughly seven times their combined budgets. The list includes only Indian films and does not include Hollywood releases.

Anaganaga Oka Roju: Made on a budget of around ₹8 crore, the film earned approximately ₹53.4 crore net in India. Its worldwide gross has crossed ₹100.20 crore.
Vaazha-2: The Malayalam film Vaazha II was reportedly made for around ₹13 crore. It went on to earn nearly ₹235.26 crore worldwide and emerged as a blockbuster.
Thai Kizhavi: This Tamil film was made on a budget of around ₹10 crore and collected approximately ₹80–85 crore worldwide. It was described as a sleeper blockbuster.
With Love: The Tamil romantic drama was made for around ₹4 crore and earned approximately ₹39–40 crore worldwide.
Hollywood Films Also Prove That Budget Is Not Everything
Obsession: Made on a budget of ₹6.29 crore ($750,000), the film reportedly earned a massive ₹3,381.97 crore worldwide.
Backrooms: The horror film was made on a budget of around ₹83.92 crore and went on to collect ₹3,307.28 crore globally.
Pegasus 3: Made on a budget of ₹62.94 crore, the film amassed around ₹5,508 crore worldwide and was declared a mega blockbuster.
