After affecting the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh, the monsoon system is now drenching the western parts as well. This has created flood-like conditions in several districts. Several rivers, including the Narmada, are in spate. According to weather experts, the system will remain active on September 6 as well.
Eighteen districts in Bihar are in the grip of floods. More than 665,000 people in these districts have been affected. The Ganga is flowing above the danger mark from Buxar to Bhagalpur. At Gandhi Ghat in Patna, the river has broken a 10-year-old record. On Saturday, the water level reached 50.57 meters.
In Uttar Pradesh, 26 districts, including Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, and Ayodhya, are affected by floods. Around 400 meters of a bypass in Shravasti has been submerged. In Bareilly, water has filled the kitchens and bedrooms of homes up to knee level.
Heavy rain is occurring in several districts of Uttarakhand. Rain is expected to continue in the state today as well, due to which all schools and anganwadi centers have been closed in three districts-Almora, Nainital, and Champawat.
