Eight people, including three children, were killed and three others injured after a truck collided with an SUV in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district early Friday morning.
According to police, the accident took place around 4 am between Manegaon and Pimpalgaon. The victims were travelling from Raipur in Chhattisgarh to Nagpur via National Highway 53 when the SUV collided with the truck.
The impact left the SUV trapped underneath the truck. Police and rescue teams used two JCB machines to remove the vehicle and recover the victims.
After receiving information about the accident, police reached the spot and launched relief and rescue operations. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
After the accident, local residents pulled the injured people out and sent them to the hospital.
September 10: 6 killed in van-truck collision in Nanded
A day earlier, on Thursday, six people were killed and eight others seriously injured after a van collided head-on with a truck on the Nanded-Bhokar Road in Maharashtra’s Nanded district.
The accident occurred around 7 pm near Sitakhandi Ghat, according to police.
The Tata Magic van was travelling from Nanded towards Bhokar when it collided with the oncoming truck. The impact was so severe that the van was badly damaged.
Local residents reached the accident site soon after the collision and helped pull the injured passengers trapped inside the van out of the wreckage.
