Ketan Agrawal’s father, Vishal Agrawal, on Monday alleged that members of Siya’s family could also be involved in the conspiracy to murder his son. He demanded the death penalty for those accused in the case.
Vishal has approached the court seeking a copy of the 5,053-page chargesheet filed by Pune Police. He has also demanded that a notification be issued appointing senior lawyer Ujjwal Nikam as the special public prosecutor.
Speaking to PTI on Monday, Vishal said he had not yet read the chargesheet and would comment on its contents only after going through it. He said the family had approached the court to obtain a copy.
The police filed the chargesheet in the Vadgaon Maval court on Saturday. The three accused — Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary and Ritesh Hange — are in judicial custody and lodged at Yerwada Central Jail in Pune.
Siya and Ketan Agrawal got engaged in November 2025.
Father questions reports of Siya’s marriage to accused
Vishal also raised questions over reports that Siya had married accused Chetan Chaudhary.
He questioned why, if the reports were true, Siya’s family had allegedly tried to arrange her marriage with Ketan.
Vishal had earlier urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to order a fast-track trial in the case and appoint Ujjwal Nikam as special public prosecutor.
Ketan’s body was found in the ravine after the search operation.
Ketan died after falling into ravine at Lohagad
Ketan and Siya had visited Lohagad Fort in Pune on June 18, where Ketan died after falling into a ravine. The incident was initially treated as an accident, with reports suggesting that Ketan lost his footing while taking photographs near a rock.
However, the police investigation later raised suspicion after CCTV footage from the fort’s ticket counter showed a man in a hoodie following Ketan and Siya.
The man was identified by police as Chetan Chaudhary, who was allegedly in a relationship with Siya.
According to the police, Sia and Chetan met at a café in Pune on 17 June.
3 key clues in the chargesheet
1. Police allege it was a murder conspiracy, not an accident
According to the chargesheet, Ketan fell into a 350–400-foot-deep ravine at Lohagad on June 18. Police have alleged that his death was the result of a conspiracy to murder him rather than an accidental fall.
2. CCTV footage showed a man in a hoodie
CCTV footage from the fort’s ticket counter allegedly showed a man wearing a hoodie walking behind Ketan and Siya. Police identified him as Chetan Chaudhary and have cited the footage as part of the evidence in the case.
3. Chetan allegedly left his phone at his office
Police claim Chetan’s mobile phone remained at his office on June 18, with its internet switched off between 7 am and 5:40 pm. Investigators allege that he deliberately left the phone behind so that its location could not place him at the site of the incident.
2,004 calls between Siya and Chetan
The police also examined the call detail records of Siya and Chetan. According to the chargesheet, investigators found 2,004 calls between the two, along with several lengthy conversations.
Police have cited the call records as digital evidence while investigating their alleged connection to the murder conspiracy.
Ketan was allegedly taken to Lohagad four days earlier
The chargesheet also states that Siya took Ketan to Lohagad on June 14, four days before his death.
Police allege that an attempt was made to push Ketan off a cliff during that visit. However, he survived after managing to hold on to a bush.
The June 14 incident and the June 18 fall are among the key circumstances examined by investigators in the case.
