Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on 25 July following growing pressure over the NEET paper leak and alleged irregularities.<\/p>\n

According to a report by The Indian Express<\/em>, the central government had tried to reach a compromise before his resignation.<\/p>\n
It reportedly proposed removing Pradhan from the Education Ministry and assigning him to another ministry instead.<\/p>\n
CJP insisted on Pradhan’s resignation<\/strong><\/span>

According to the report, Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh contacted Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were leading the protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.<\/p>\n
The government reportedly asked whether replacing Pradhan in the Education Ministry while keeping him in the Cabinet would be acceptable.<\/p>\n
However, the CJP leaders rejected the proposal, saying that Pradhan’s complete resignation was the only acceptable outcome and that there could be no compromise.<\/p>\n
The report added that the deadlock deepened because there was no proper channel for talks between the government and the protesters. As a result, both sides hardened their positions.<\/p>\n
Movement began after NEET-UG 2026<\/strong><\/span>
The protest began after complaints about the NEET-UG 2026 examination. It gradually grew into a wider movement demanding greater accountability in the examination system.<\/p>\n
CJP leaders said the protest was not only against one minister but also against flaws in the country’s recruitment and entrance examination system.<\/p>\n
According to the report, discussions within the BJP and the government began 48 hours before Pradhan’s resignation.<\/p>\n
Some party leaders believed it had become difficult for him to continue as Education Minister because of growing public anger and the uproar in Parliament.<\/p>\n
Movement maintained a strong presence on social media<\/strong><\/span>
The report said the government tried to resolve the crisis through back-channel talks and offered the option of keeping Pradhan in the Cabinet while moving him to another ministry.<\/p>\n
However, the CJP made it clear that only his resignation would meet its main demand.<\/p>\n
The protest remained politically significant because of its strong support on social media and its appeal among first-time voters, young people, and examination candidates.<\/p>\n
Dharmendra Pradhan, a senior BJP leader from Odisha, has previously held key portfolios including Petroleum and Steel. He resigned after about five weeks of protests.<\/p>\n
Following his resignation, CJP leaders announced the suspension of the movement, describing it as a victory for student power. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has been given additional charge of the Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n
