Four members of a family were allegedly assaulted by suspected sand mining operators in Chhatarpur district on Friday after they objected to the alleged illegal extraction of sand from a seasonal stream near their farmland.<\/p>\n

According to the information, during the assault, one of the men was allegedly shot in the leg. The bullet reportedly passed through his leg, leaving him injured. All four injured family members have been admitted to Chhatarpur District Hospital.<\/p>\n

During the clash, one of the family members allegedly snatched a country-made pistol from one of the attackers and fired shots, forcing the alleged assailants to flee.<\/p>\n

Videos of the incident have surfaced. One video purportedly shows a blood-covered injured man loading the pistol and firing, while another shows the alleged assault and gunfire.<\/p>\n

The incident took place under Rajnagar police station limits.<\/p>\n

Dispute began over alleged illegal sand extraction<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to preliminary information, the confrontation began when one side objected to the alleged illegal extraction of sand from a rain-fed stream passing near their farmland.<\/p>\n

The objection allegedly led to an argument with the other group, which soon escalated into a physical assault. Gunshots were subsequently fired, triggering panic in the area.<\/p>\n

Four family members injured, one suffers gunshot wound<\/strong><\/p>\n

The injured have been identified as Ramdas Vishwakarma, his son Narendra Vishwakarma, Pushpendra Vishwakarma and Sanjay Vishwakarma.<\/p>\n

Pushpendra sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, while the other three were injured in the alleged assault. All four are undergoing treatment at Chhatarpur District Hospital.<\/p>\n

Nandkumar Vishwakarma, Ramdas\u2019s elder son, alleged that some people had been digging up land near their farm to extract sand.<\/p>\n

He said the family objected to the activity, following which the accused allegedly abused them and threatened them with consequences at their home.<\/p>\n

According to Nandkumar, the group later reached their house and allegedly assaulted his brothers, sisters-in-law and other women present there.<\/p>\n

During the attack, his younger brother Pushpendra was allegedly shot.<\/p>\n

Nandkumar also claimed that his brothers managed to snatch a country-made pistol from one of the attackers. He said the weapon is currently in their possession at home.<\/p>\n

Family names several people as accused<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nandkumar identified the alleged attackers as Halkeiya, Mamlu, Devidin, Ballu, Mangaldin, Arvind, Jitendra and Ravi, among others.<\/p>\n

He alleged that Halkeiya and Ravi opened fire and were carrying two country-made pistols, one of which was allegedly snatched by his brothers.<\/p>\n

He said his father, two brothers and he himself were injured in the attack. According to him, two of his brothers are in serious condition, with injuries on different parts of their bodies, including head injuries.<\/p>\n

SP: Action will be based on video evidence<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police Rajat Saklecha, police received information about a dispute between two groups in a rural area near Khajuraho.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth sides were involved in a physical altercation. A video has also surfaced showing a person firing a weapon,\u201d the SP said.<\/p>\n

He added that people from both sides had suffered injuries and were undergoing medical examinations.<\/p>\n

\u201cSections will be added to the FIR based on the medical examination and doctors\u2019 reports. The arrest of the accused will be ensured. Legal action will also be taken regarding the illegal weapon visible in the video,\u201d Saklecha said.<\/p>\n
