Abhilash Mishra\/Manoj Shukla (Rewa-Sidhi)<\/span>21 minutes ago<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n A young woman from Patna (Bihar) has accused Shiv Murat Upadhyay alias Sudama, a storyteller from Sidhi district, of drugging her, rape, fraud, and threatening her.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Based on the victim’s complaint, a case has been registered at Gardanibagh Police Station in Patna under Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).<\/p>\n The young woman alleges that the accused first gained her trust by luring her with a promise of B.Ed. admission, then physically exploited her for a long time by promising marriage. Dainik Bhaskar’s investigation, based on the complaint and FIR, revealed several important details of the entire incident.<\/p>\n Acquaintance at Yagya, One Lakh Rupees Taken for B.Ed. Admission<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to the victim, she met Shiv Murat Upadhyay, a storyteller residing in Nargi village of Sidhi, at a Shatachandi Yagya held at her maternal uncle’s place in 2012-13. When discussions about pursuing B.Ed. came up in 2023, the accused stated that he had an acquaintance’s college and university in Sidhi. There, he assured her of getting a fee discount and only needing to come for exams.<\/p>\n Accused’s acquaintances abused, threatened to kill over phone<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the victim, on August 23, 2025, the accused suddenly ended the relationship. When she approached his sister hoping for justice, the marriage was refused.<\/p>\n It is alleged that she was told to go wherever she wanted. The police would also not be able to do anything, as the accused is known to MLAs, MPs, and ministers. After this, the accused’s acquaintances abused her over the phone and also gave death threats. For your love, I broke my celibacy. Now you tell me, who benefited from this? You gained everything of a sage, while I lost my spiritual practice.”<\/p>\n The victim alleges that the accused said such things to mentally pressure her and prevent her from complaining.<\/p>\n Baba has many luxury cars.<\/span><\/p>\n Allegations of luxury cars and property worth crores<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the victim’s complaint and local discussions, Shiv Murat Upadhyay lived a very lavish lifestyle. It is alleged that he used to travel with expensive luxury cars and a convoy of 25 vehicles. His movement from Vrindavan to Sidhi used to be similar. He used to influence people by claiming to be close to big leaders and ministers.<\/p>\n The victim alleges that he amassed a large fortune through storytelling (Katha Vachan) and donations received from devotees.<\/p>\n Claim of closeness with leaders and officials<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the victim and local discussions, the accused had connections with many leaders, police officers, and administrative officials. His pictures with several public figures, including Sidhi MP Rajesh Mishra, former Collector Ravindra Chaudhary, and former IPS Pankaj Kumawat, have surfaced.<\/p>\n The victim alleges that she was intimidated by citing these connections, being told that the police and administration would not be able to harm her.<\/p>\n Preaching detachment from the stage, contradictory allegations in the complaint<\/strong><\/p>\n During the discourse, the accused used to talk about detachment and self-control. He used to say that the lust of the body is momentary, the body is merely a framework of flesh and skin, and one should not get entangled in its beauty. However, the victim alleges that the storyteller who preached self-control from the stage continued to behave contrary to it in his private life.<\/p>\n Conspiracy to tarnish social, religious reputation<\/strong><\/p>\n Shiv Murat Upadhyay has called all the allegations false and fabricated. He says that a conspiracy has been hatched to tarnish his social and religious reputation. He has denied the allegations of taking money in the name of B.Ed. admission, administering intoxicants, and rape.<\/p>\n He says that his pictures with public representatives and officials are only from public events. He has no connection with this matter.
