The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhopal, has forecast heavy rain in districts across the northern and eastern parts of the state.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Before that, rain activity\u2014ranging from light showers to spells of heavy rain\u2014will continue across Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior and Jabalpur, over the next two days.<\/p>\n According to the weather department, a low-pressure area over Rajasthan and the monsoon trough passing through Madhya Pradesh are currently influencing the weather. However, their impact remained limited on Saturday, with drizzle reported in Khargone, Ratlam, Bhopal and several other districts.<\/p>\n Similar weather conditions are expected on Sunday and Monday. These include Anuppur, Balaghat, Chhatarpur, Chhindwara, Damoh, Dindori, Jabalpur, Katni, Maihar, Mandla, Mauganj, Narsinghpur, Niwari, Pandhurna, Panna, Sagar, Satna, Seoni, Sidhi, Singrauli, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Agar-Malwa, Alirajpur, Ashoknagar, Betul, Datia, Dhar, Guna, Harda, Jhabua, Mandsaur, Morena, Narmadapuram, Neemuch, Raisen, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Shajapur, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Ujjain and Vidisha.<\/p>\n These districts have received more rain<\/strong><\/p>\n Rainfall has been above normal in 12 districts, including Bhopal, Shahdol, Barwani, Bhind, Burhanpur, Dewas, Indore, Khandwa, Khargone, Sehore and Umaria. Barwani has also been included in the list.<\/p>\n Rainfall deficit continues after June and July<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the weather department, Madhya Pradesh received 14% less rainfall than normal in June. The deficit initially improved due to heavy rainfall during the early days of July.<\/p>\n However, the monsoon went through two breaks, resulting in several dry days. A strong weather system became active again during the final week of July. The average rainfall for the month is around 9.5 inches, with rain occurring on an average of 12 days.<\/p>\n Jabalpur: 44 inches of rain recorded in August 1923<\/strong><\/p>\n Jabalpur holds a record of 44 inches of rainfall in a single month. The record was set 102 years ago, in August 1923.<\/p>\n On August 20 that year, the city received around 13 inches of rain within 24 hours, creating a situation similar to a cloudburst.<\/p>\n Jabalpur receives an average of around 18 inches of rain in August, with rainfall occurring on approximately 16 days.
