Gujarat also witnessed widespread flooding after heavy rain lashed districts including Surat and Morbi. More than 27,000 people were shifted to safer locations, while 53 others were rescued. Ambika taluka in Surat recorded 611 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, around 2,000 members of the Muslim community gathered in Thennur, Tiruchirappalli, to offer Salat al-Istisqa (special prayers for rain) amid prolonged dry weather.
