Madhya Pradesh has received an average of 15.4 inches of rainfall so far this monsoon, less than half of its seasonal quota. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhopal, Gwalior, Ujjain, Jabalpur and 42 other districts have recorded below-normal rainfall. No heavy rain alert has been issued for the state over the next two days, Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n

In Uttar Pradesh, the monsoon has become active once again, bringing rain to Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Bareilly and Agra on Monday. The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for 72 districts on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

In Bihar, eight people were killed and eight others injured after lightning strikes in different parts of Banka district within 24 hours. The IMD has issued a thunderstorm and rain alert for 25 districts on Tuesday, with heavy rainfall warnings for Siwan and Gopalganj. Wind speeds of up to 60 kmph are also expected during the period.<\/p>\n

The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh from August 3 to 7. While no flash flood warning has been issued, authorities have advised people travelling to hilly areas to remain cautious.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, a woman died after a cloudburst triggered flash flooding in Kupwara on Monday. Police said the cloudburst caused a sudden surge of water in the area. Another cloudburst was also reported in Bandipora later the same day.<\/p>\n
