A conspiracy was hatched against us, we were implicated in false cases and disqualified, but our politics did not end. Being a MLA or not is not the biggest thing for us.<\/p>\n Question:<\/strong> The Congress alleges that you worked against the party and committed sabotage.<\/p>\n Rajendra Bharti:<\/strong> This is a completely baseless and fabricated allegation. We have struggled for Congress since 2013. If we had worked against the party, why would we have struggled for so many years? Since 2009, we continuously fought against Dr. Narottam Mishra. What was Ghanshyam Singh’s contribution in this? He stayed away from Datia for years and kept losing elections. We did the work of defeating a strong BJP leader.<\/p>\n Question:<\/strong> You have claimed that Dr. Narottam Mishra offered you a stay from the Supreme Court. What is the whole matter?<\/p>\n Rajendra Bharti:<\/strong> After not getting relief from the High Court, we appealed to the Supreme Court. During that time, Dr. Narottam Mishra’s ticket was cancelled. Two of his lawyers approached our lawyer. The message was that a stay would be obtained from the Supreme Court, just remove the technical objections. Their aim was to stop the election. They said that you remain an MLA for two and a half years, but we flatly refused. We will also make public the names of the concerned lawyers when the time comes.<\/p>\n Question:<\/strong> Did the Congress leadership consult you regarding the ticket?<\/p>\n Rajendra Bharti:<\/strong> Party leaders had told me not to contest the election. After what happened to us, there was public sympathy for us. We did not insist on getting a ticket for anyone from our family either. Our wish was that a deserving OBC face should get a chance.<\/p>\n Question:<\/strong> Are you saying that there was political calculation behind getting Ghanshyam Singh the ticket?<\/p>\n Rajendra Bharti:<\/strong> We had already said that we do not want to contest the election. Our suggestion was that Aadesh or any other OBC leader should be given the ticket. But as soon as Dr. Narottam Mishra’s ticket was cut, Ghanshyam Singh insisted on contesting the election. We feel that he was assured of support.<\/p>\n Question:<\/strong> Do you also object to the expulsion process?<\/p>\n Rajendra Bharti:<\/strong> Absolutely. The Congress constitution provides for a disciplinary committee. Before any action, a notice should be given, both parties should be heard, and then a decision should be made. In my case, the principle of natural justice was not followed.<\/p>\n Question:<\/strong> Do you think this decision was taken under pressure?<\/p>\n Rajendra Bharti:<\/strong> I feel so. After all, why was there such a hurry? Only the party leadership can answer under whose influence the decision was taken.<\/p>\n Question:<\/strong> You allege that Dr. Narottam Mishra had an influence on Datia Congress?<\/p>\n Rajendra Bharti:<\/strong> I am saying that those who were struggling were constantly harassed.
