<\/picture><\/div>\nThe Indore Municipal Corporation Council has completed four years of its five-year term, with one year remaining to complete several key projects. On Tuesday, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava addressed the media and released the civic body\u2019s report card for 2022\u20132026, highlighting its major achievements and pending works.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n 60-MW solar plant set up<\/strong><\/p>\n Mayor Bhargava said Indore became the first municipal corporation in the country to issue a municipal green bond. The funds raised through the bond were used to establish a 60-MW solar power plant at Jalud.<\/p>\n According to the mayor, the plant is helping the municipal corporation save around \u20b94 crore every month on its electricity expenses.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 40 new overhead water tanks planned<\/strong><\/p>\n To meet the city\u2019s future drinking water requirements, four mega water supply projects worth \u20b92,156.16 crore have been initiated.<\/p>\n The projects include a modern 400 MLD water treatment plant, a 1,650 MLD intake well, 40 new overhead water tanks, more than 1,577 km of new pipelines, around 2.48 lakh new domestic tap connections and a SCADA-based smart water management system.<\/p>\n On completing 4 years, the Mayor discussed with the media.<\/span><\/p>\n Seven sewerage projects worth \u20b9122 crore completed<\/strong><\/p>\n The civic body has set a target of making Indore a sewer-free city and restoring the cleanliness of its rivers.<\/p>\n Over the past four years, seven major sewerage projects worth \u20b9122.09 crore have been completed, along with the laying of 30.65 km of new sewer lines.<\/p>\n Nine more projects worth \u20b955.28 crore are currently under construction. In addition, project plans worth around \u20b91,900 crore have been prepared through initiatives including Namami Gange, AMRUT 2.0, Simhastha 2028 and the Urban Challenge Fund.<\/p>\n These projects are expected to add 687 MLD of sewage treatment capacity and more than 450 km of new sewerage network.<\/p>\n Under AMRUT 2.0, drinking water and drainage networks are also being expanded in 29 villages that have been incorporated into the municipal limits.<\/p>\n Road projects worth over \u20b9800 crore underway<\/strong><\/p>\n The municipal corporation has accelerated road projects worth more than \u20b9800 crore to meet the city\u2019s future traffic requirements.<\/p>\n Around 36 major roads and link roads, including 23 master plan roads, have been developed. Key projects include the MR-10 to MR-12 link road, Airport Link Road, Chandan Nagar Link Road and the road connecting Advance Academy to the Ring Road.<\/p>\n Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava.<\/span><\/p>\n Focus on future development<\/strong><\/p>\n Bhargava said the civic body\u2019s focus over the coming year will remain on making Indore sewer-free, expanding AMRUT 2.0 and Namami Gange projects, preparations for Simhastha 2028, new water supply projects, a modern road network, digital governance, environmental conservation and reuse of treated water.<\/p>\n The corporation also plans to promote climate-resilient development and people-centric urban management.<\/p>\n The mayor said Indore has built on its achievements in cleanliness to establish new standards in areas such as water supply, roads, sewerage, education, healthcare, environment, digital innovation, financial discipline and good governance.<\/p>\n Nehru stadium revival work yet to begin<\/strong><\/p>\n While highlighting the civic body\u2019s achievements, Bhargava acknowledged that the revival of Nehru Stadium remains a major project that could not be started during the first four years.<\/p>\n He said the corporation has laid the foundation for Indore\u2019s future development, with a focus on completing water, sewage treatment and road network projects, including the 23 master plan roads, within the remaining year.<\/p>\n Bhargava said most of the planned works have already begun, while two old markets are also expected to be completed within the next year.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Indore Municipal Corporation Council has completed four years of its five-year term, with one year remaining to complete several key projects.
