Their families face prolonged financial and emotional distress, while their mechanised boats are often confiscated and not returned even after the fishermen are repatriated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">As both the countries mark their respective 80th Independence Days in this week, the families urge both Governments to ensure the immediate release and repatriation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\"><span class=\"e913fbaa d3886593\"><strong>When imprisoned fishermen became Modi\u2019s issue<\/strong><\/span><strong\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">As Gujarat Chief Minister, Modi repeatedly attacked the Congress-led UPA government over such arrests, accusing it of a \u201clethargic policy\u201d and failing to protect Gujarati fishermen.
