Kerala Police on Monday arrested right-wing political commentator TG Mohandas over alleged controversial remarks about students protesting at Jantar Mantar in connection with the NEET paper-leak issue.<\/p>\n

According to a police complaint, Mohandas allegedly uploaded videos on the YouTube channel \u2018Pathrika\u2019 on July 24 and 25, with the purported intention of creating fear and unrest.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges that, in one of the videos, Mohandas made remarks suggesting that gang-rape incidents could occur during the Jantar Mantar protest, while claiming that protesters would not complain because, he alleged, some participants like rape and some women enjoy rape.<\/p>\n

Mohandas also allegedly said that, had he been in charge, he would have imposed a curfew and ordered the protesters to disperse. He further claimed that if they refused to comply, he would have ordered the police to open fire.<\/p>\n

YouTube channel investigated, digital devices seized<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Police registered a case and began an investigation after receiving the complaint. Mohandas was detained from his home in Kochi on Sunday. He was brought to the Thiruvananthapuram Cyber \u200b\u200bPolice Station at midnight, where he was arrested. He will be produced in court on Monday.<\/p>\n

Police said they have gathered information related to Mohandas’s YouTube account. They have also seized the digital devices used to create and upload the videos. These will be presented in court and sent for forensic examination.<\/p>\n

Police have currently registered a case against Mohandas under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology Act, and the Kerala Police Act. Additional sections may be added as the investigation progresses.<\/p>\n

These include charges such as deliberately creating a situation that may incite a riot, publishing or circulating false statements, rumours or reports and harassing a person through any medium of communication.<\/p>\n

Asked to remove the video from social media platforms<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Police have also requested the relevant social media operators to remove the controversial video. Officials say the video and related digital evidence will be examined during the investigation.<\/p>\n

Security increased outside police station and court<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A large crowd gathered outside Mohandas’s Kochi home when he was taken into custody on Sunday. Police are on high alert for possible crowds or protests around the Thiruvananthapuram Cyber \u200b\u200bPolice Station and the relevant court.<\/p>\n
