The committee therefore held the first charge proved.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:0\"\/><span style=\"font-size:0\"\/><iframe frameborder=\"0\" srcdoc=\"\" title=\"twitter\" class=\"twitter\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\"><strong>Panel flags serious lapses in evidence preservation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The committee also found serious lapses in the handling and preservation of physical evidence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">It noted that the condition of the storeroom was altered before it was legally sealed and examined.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The report also said there was no satisfactory explanation for some currency notes that were subsequently found to be missing or unavailable. However, it did not establish that Justice Varma himself had removed the missing notes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\"><strong>Committee finds judge\u2019s responses evasive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The panel also upheld the third charge concerning Justice Varma\u2019s responses during the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">It specifically referred to his March 22, 2025 response, describing it as \u201cunsatisfactory and evasive\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The committee said his response lacked the institutional responsibility and clarity expected in the circumstances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The findings were based on statements from independent government witnesses and other evidence presented before the committee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The committee has submitted its final report, along with relevant documents, evidence and the record of proceedings, to the competent authority.
