<\/p>\n Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nanda issued a directive on Thursday night for the creation of the separate outpost, citing security concerns surrounding the temple. The move is reportedly the first time Kolkata Police has established a dedicated outpost for a religious site.<\/p>\n According to the police, the decision was taken to ensure the safety and convenience of visitors while maintaining law and order in and around the temple premises. The police statement also mentioned the possibility of security threats, including potential terror attacks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Security concerns prompt dedicated police presence<\/strong><\/span> The Commissioner\u2019s directive reportedly noted that Kalighat Temple had faced various security-related risks in the past. The dedicated outpost will focus on temple security, crowd management and ensuring the convenience of devotees and visitors.<\/p>\n The development comes amid heightened security concerns in West Bengal following the detection of several suspected foreign-linked terror operatives in the state. However, there is no official confirmation that any specific terror threat has been identified against Kalighat Temple.<\/p>\n Inspector to lead 20-member police team<\/strong><\/span> According to the preliminary details released by Kolkata Police, the Kalighat Police Outpost will have a strength of 20 personnel and will be headed by an inspector-rank officer.<\/p>\n The team will include two sub-inspectors or sergeant-rank officers, eight constables and five women constables.
