A container ship carrying 21 Indian sailors was fired upon by Iranian boats in the Strait of Hormuz. The incident took place on April 22.<\/p>\n

The Federation of Seafarers\u2019 Associations of India (FSUI) has now released a video of the incident.<\/p>\n

The video shows boats linked to Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) around the ship.<\/p>\n

After the firing, broken glass and scattered belongings can be seen inside the vessel. At one point, the video also appears to show a rocket-propelled grenade being fired.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

During the attack, the crew hid inside the ship to protect themselves. There were 21 Indian sailors on board, and all of them remained safe.<\/p>\n

Government has already stopped new deployment of Indian sailors in Hormuz<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Amid growing security risks in the Gulf region, India on July 16 stopped the new deployment of Indian sailors on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

The restriction will remain in place until further orders.<\/p>\n

The decision came after Indian sailors were killed in attacks in and around the Strait of Hormuz. According to reports, at least 14 Indian sailors have been killed in attacks in the region since February 28.<\/p>\n

India has directed ship owners, ship management companies and RPSL companies involved in recruiting sailors to remain extra cautious in the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and nearby waters.<\/p>\n

The restriction applies to the fresh deployment of Indian sailors. It does not directly apply to sailors recruited outside India by foreign shipping companies.<\/p>\n

Ship carrying 6 Indians hijacked off Somalia<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Pirates have hijacked a cargo ship off the Puntland coast of Somalia. The Cameroon-flagged M\/V LUTUF had 10 people on board, including six Indians, one Turkish citizen, one Georgian and two Serbian security guards.<\/p>\n

The ship was seized on August 17, around 3.5 nautical miles from Maraya in the Eyl district. The pirates took it towards the Nugaal coast.<\/p>\n

The ship was carrying weapons, communication equipment and satellite equipment for a Turkish military training centre in Mogadishu.<\/p>\n

According to a Somali official, eight pirates took control of the ship. Two Turkish vessels later arrived and began surveillance using helicopters and drones.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, a small boat approached the ship. After it left, an airstrike killed four people and injured two others.<\/p>\n

However, it is not clear who carried out the attack or whether those killed were involved in the hijacking. The current condition of the ship and its crew is also unclear.<\/p>\n

The bodies of two Pakistani sailors killed in a Houthi attack reached Karachi on Thursday. Six Pakistani sailors who were injured in the attack have also safely returned to Pakistan.<\/p>\n

On August 11, the Houthis attacked the Tanzanian-flagged \u2018Tihama\u2019 ship in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. Three Pakistani sailors and one Indonesian sailor were killed in the attack.<\/p>\n

Two injured sailors and the bodies of the two dead sailors arrived in Karachi on a Saudi Airlines flight, while the remaining four injured sailors returned on a PIA flight.<\/p>\n

Pakistan\u2019s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar condemned the attack and said the safety of seafarers must be ensured at all costs.<\/p>\n
