The dispute, which began on Wednesday after people from Assam were assaulted in Meghalaya, has now spread to several parts of the state.<\/p>\n

Over the past 24 hours, there have been reports of arson and petrol bomb attacks on government properties in Meghalaya.<\/p>\n

Assam has also blocked its borders with Meghalaya.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, people from Assam were assaulted, and their vehicles were set on fire during a rally organised by the Khasi Students Union (KSU) in Shillong, Meghalaya.<\/p>\n

A total of 31 vehicles were damaged in the violence, most of them carrying Assam registration numbers. Following the incident, sporadic violence was reported in several districts of the state.<\/p>\n

In protest, taxi drivers in Guwahati, Assam, blocked traffic on National Highway-27.<\/p>\n

Police outpost attacked in Shillong<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The situation remained peaceful in Shillong throughout Thursday. However, at around 9:30 pm, unidentified people threw a petrol bomb at the Nongmensong police outpost.<\/p>\n

The bomb landed inside the outpost premises and set a chair on fire.<\/p>\n

CRPF personnel were present on the upper floor of the building at the time. The fire was brought under control before it could spread.<\/p>\n

Police said a case would be registered over the incident. CCTV footage from the area will also be examined.<\/p>\n
