Theatres recorded 37.8 crore footfalls in the first half of 2026, around 5% higher than the 36.2 crore recorded during the same period in 2025.<\/p>\n After the pandemic, the annual record stood at 94.3 crore footfalls in 2023. With 37.8 crore footfalls already recorded in the first six months of 2026, the industry could potentially set another major record by the end of the year.<\/p>\n Big releases in the second half could push the numbers higher<\/strong><\/p>\n The second half of 2026 has several major releases lined up, including Ramayana: Part 1, King and Avengers: Doomsday.<\/p>\n These films are expected to bring more audiences to theatres and could play an important role in pushing the annual footfall figure higher.<\/p>\n The year\u2019s biggest releases are expected to play a key role in the final box-office tally.<\/span><\/p>\n If the current trend continues and these major releases perform well, the Indian theatrical market could cross the 100 crore footfall mark by the end of 2026.<\/p>\n Overall, the year has presented an interesting picture for Indian cinema.
