It was found in the Yamuna near Badhta Thorsi village in Uttar Pradesh, around 15 km from the barrage, on Wednesday (2 Sept) night.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Army has not yet officially confirmed the identity of the deceased soldier. The search for the second soldier continues.<\/p>\n Five soldiers jumped from Chinook during training<\/strong><\/p>\n On Tuesday (1 Sept) evening, five soldiers jumped from a Chinook helicopter onto a boat stationed in the Yamuna as part of a training exercise. The boat suddenly sank during the drill. While three soldiers managed to swim to safety, two went missing.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Search operation to expand to Eastern Yamuna Canal<\/strong><\/p>\n Army teams were searching the Western Yamuna Canal and its branching canals on the Haryana side. The soldiers then jumped into the river wearing diving gear and life jackets.<\/p>\n Three soldiers managed to swim to safety<\/strong><\/p>\n Three soldiers managed to swim out through the gate of the Western Yamuna Canal. However, Maharashtra\u2019s Aryan Patil and Ajay, a resident of Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir, went missing. The Army, along with local divers, launched a search operation that same night.<\/p>\n All five soldiers jumped into this boat. Later, the Army team pulled the boat out.<\/span><\/p>\n Search operation expands across Haryana and Uttar Pradesh<\/strong><\/p>\n The next day, 2 September, teams from the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh SDRF, along with the Army, joined the search operation. A helicopter was also deployed for aerial surveillance.<\/p>\n As the operation continued, routes leading to the barrage from both Haryana and Uttar Pradesh were closed. Ten Army teams searched an area covering around 15 km.<\/p>\n Canal water level lowered to aid search<\/strong><\/p>\n The flow of water in the Western Yamuna Canal was stopped for an hour to lower the water level and facilitate the search. Army personnel also formed a human chain and entered the canal to look for the missing soldiers.<\/p>\n Life jackets and diving kit found 15 km away<\/strong><\/p>\n In the evening, two life jackets and a diving kit were recovered from Dadupur Head, around 15 km from the barrage. However, the Army did not confirm whether the items belonged to the missing soldiers.<\/p>\n Body of one soldier found in Uttar Pradesh<\/strong><\/p>\n At night, the body of a soldier was recovered near Bartha Thorsi village in Uttar Pradesh\u2019s Saharanpur district.
