His entry has been marked as \u2018permanently shifted\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:0\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">His name appears in the ASDD (Absent, Shifted, Deceased and Duplicate) list published on August 13. The reason recorded against his entry was \u2018permanently shifted\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">He is among 20.66 lakh voters, or around 9.7% of Punjab\u2019s pre-SIR electorate, whose names have been deleted from the draft rolls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">Chadha alleged that the AAP leadership is \u201cburning with anger\u201d ever since he left the party and joined the BJP. He claimed that the Punjab government is using its administrative machinery against those who have left the AAP.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:0\"\/><span style=\"font-size:0\"\/><iframe frameborder=\"0\" srcdoc=\"\" title=\"twitter\" class=\"twitter\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\"><strong>Alleges Punjab machinery was used against ex-AAP MPs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">Chadha alleged that the Punjab Police and the state government\u2019s administrative machinery had been used against those who left the AAP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">\u201cOther MPs who left AAP and joined the BJP have also been targeted by Punjab Govt. This wrongful classification is only the latest act in that political vendetta,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">He also pointed out that the SIR guidelines have a provision creating a \u201cprotected list\u201d for public representatives, including MPs and MLAs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">Chadha alleged that this provision had been \u201cwilfully violated\u201d in his case. He said Punjab\u2019s draft electoral rolls were \u201cnot the private property\u201d of the ruling AAP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\"><strong>Chadha: My voter ID is registered in Mohali<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">Reacting to the development, Chadha said his voter ID is registered in Mohali and questioned why he had been classified as \u2018shifted\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The MP said the electoral rolls are still at the draft stage and that he is already using the remedies available under the SIR guidelines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">\u201cThis does not seem like a mere clerical mistake. This is a clear case of political vendetta,\u201d Chadha said in a detailed social media post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">He alleged that the AAP government was using the state\u2019s administrative machinery against those who had left the party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">\u201cEver since I left the corrupt Aam Aadmi Party, its leadership has been burning with anger,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"f3e032cb\"><picture class=\"c62bd949\" style=\"visibility:visible\"><source media=\"(max-width: 768px)\" type=\"image\/webp\" srcset=\"https:\/\/images.bhaskarassets.com\/webp\/thumb\/360x0\/web2images\/1884\/2026\/04\/24\/rc_1777027108.jpg\"\/><source media=\"(min-width: 768px)\" type=\"image\/webp\" srcset=\"https:\/\/images.bhaskarassets.com\/webp\/thumb\/512x0\/web2images\/1884\/2026\/04\/24\/rc_1777027108.jpg\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"731\" height=\"1432\" src=\"https:\/\/images.bhaskarassets.com\/web2images\/1884\/2026\/04\/24\/rc_1777027108.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"f97587ba\"\/><\/picture><\/div>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\"><strong>Joined BJP with six other AAP MPs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The 37-year-old MP quit the AAP and joined the BJP in April along with six other Rajya Sabha MPs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">Explaining his decision, Chadha said the AAP had \u201ccompletely deviated from its principles, values and morals\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The AAP, in turn, accused him of being \u201copportunistic\u201d and questioned his absence from key political battles and protests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\"><strong>Objections can be filed till September 12<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The claims and objections window for the SIR is open until September 12.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The final electoral rolls are expected to be published in October 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\"><strong>Voter deletion does not affect Rajya Sabha membership<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The deletion of Chadha\u2019s name from the Punjab voter rolls does not, by itself, affect his eligibility to continue as a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"word-break:break-word;text-align:left;white-space:pre-line\">The requirement that a Rajya Sabha candidate must be registered as a voter in the state they represent was removed in 2003 through an amendment to the Representation of the People Act.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:0\"\/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha\u2019s name has been deleted from the Punjab draft electoral rolls prepared under the Election Commission\u2019s Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
