Vijay’s name is included among them.<\/span><\/p>\n London-based businessman Vijay Mallya once again accused the Indian government of injustice late Wednesday night. He said he cannot return to India because of the ongoing legal proceedings in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mallya claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in an affidavit filed before the Bombay High Court, had acknowledged recovering more than \u20b914,000 crore from him. According to him, this amount was paid to the banks to which he owed money.<\/p>\n He said that, considering the injustice being done to him, he felt he should become a cockroach. Mallya had also denied being a fugitive on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Mallya made several posts on social media late Wednesday night. In them, he referred to the recent protests led by the CJP and said that he was still being subjected to injustice.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He wrote, \u201cConsidering all the injustices I have faced and continue to face, I wonder if I should become a cockroach. Perhaps there is a better life in the world of cockroaches.\u201d<\/p>\n While referring to the cases pending against him, Mallya said that, in an affidavit filed before the Bombay High Court, the ED acknowledged that \u20b914,000 crore had been recovered from him and deposited with the banks.<\/p>\n He said, “I want to say once again that the ED, considered the most dangerous criminal agency, has confirmed in an affidavit filed in court that it gave more than \u20b914,000 crore to the banks in 2021. If you do not believe me, forget it. Pay attention to what the ED has said.”<\/p>\n Mallya also referred to his post from Tuesday. He had said that he was not a fugitive and that the legal process in the United Kingdom had prevented him from returning to India.<\/p>\n He said that repaying the banks does not depend on his physical presence in India. Mallya wrote, “Thank you for the mixed reactions to my post. Love and hate go hand in hand. I accept your opinions with respect.”<\/p>\n He added, “Those who do not understand the difference between permanent residency and citizenship, and those who believe that repaying money depends on physical presence, should think again.”<\/p>\n Claim of Being Barred from Leaving the UK<\/strong><\/span> Mallya said on Tuesday that he has been a permanent resident of the UK since 1992. He claimed that he is not legally allowed to leave the UK.<\/p>\n He wrote in a social media post, “Those who call me a fugitive refusing to come to India should know that I have been a permanent resident of the United Kingdom since 1992. At present, I am legally barred from leaving this country.”<\/p>\n Mallya said that it all began with the Indian government’s ‘poster boy’ action in his case. He had accused the government of adopting an extremely unfair approach toward him.<\/p>\n ED affidavit claims \u20b914,131.60 crore<\/strong><\/span> Mallya shared a portion of an affidavit reportedly filed by the ED in the Bombay High Court. He claimed that it mentioned the recovery of \u20b914,131.60 crore from him.<\/p>\n He wrote, “The affidavit filed by the ED in the Bombay High Court. Paragraph 7 states the debt, and paragraph 17 shows \u20b914,131.60 crore recovered in 2021.”<\/p>\n Mallya said that even after five years, he was still being portrayed as someone who had defrauded the banks. He also shared a table showing the details of the recovery. Mallya claimed that he had been wrongly labelled a fugitive.<\/p>\n He wrote, “Those who believe in fair and accurate accounting should look at this table. Is it right for the media to target me in this manner and for a journalist to call me a fraudster right at the beginning of a script? Why doesn’t anyone start asking when I will receive my refund?”<\/p>\n Bombay High Court Had Granted a Final Opportunity in February<\/strong><\/span> In February this year, the Bombay High Court reprimanded Vijay Mallya. The court said that a person who deliberately avoids court proceedings cannot seek equitable relief.<\/p>\n The court had given Mallya a final opportunity to clarify whether he wished to return to India.
