<\/picture><\/div>\nThe High Court on Tuesday heard the bail plea of Giribala Singh, who is in jail in connection with the death of model and actress Twisha Sharma. The court heard arguments from Giribala Singh’s and the CBI’s lawyers on the plea, which had been pending for around three weeks. The CBI sought one week to file its response, following which the High Court scheduled the next hearing in the case for a week later.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Relief sought on grounds of age and illness<\/strong><\/p>\n Giribala Singh’s lawyers argued in court that she should be granted bail in view of her age and illness. The defence also said that Giribala Singh would fully co-operate with the investigation and legal proceedings.<\/p>\n CBI seeks one week’s time<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the hearing, the CBI sought one week’s time to respond in the case. The court granted the CBI the time sought and scheduled the next hearing for a week later.<\/p>\n Giribala Singh is currently in jail, and a final decision on her bail is likely to be taken at the next hearing.<\/p>\n CBI wants to submit case diary<\/strong><\/p>\n Senior advocate Surendra Singh, representing Giribala Singh, said that a hearing was held today before Justice Ajay Kumar Nirankari. Lawyers for both sides appeared before the court. \u201cWe submitted that Giribala Singh’s age should be taken into consideration,\u201d Surendra Singh said adding that Giribala Singh had committed no wrongdoing. \u201cShe had not abetted Twisha’s suicide. Nor had she committed any act in this case that could suggest she was involved in any crime,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The senior advocate said that both sides had sought time. The CBI said it wanted to submit the case diary and had also filed an objection. However, after hearing the arguments of both sides, the court granted one week’s time.<\/p>\n Twisha died in May<\/strong><\/p>\n Twisha Sharma died under suspicious circumstances at her marital home in Katara Hills, Bhopal, on 12 May.
