Born into the Kapoor family, but named Siddhima<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kareena Kapoor Khan was born into one of Bollywood\u2019s most famous film families. Her grandfather, legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, reportedly named her Siddhima at birth. Her mother Babita later changed her name to Kareena, reportedly taking inspiration from Leo Tolstoy\u2019s novel Anna Karenina.<\/p>\n

Kareena grew up with her elder sister Karisma Kapoor, who later became a successful actress. Despite being surrounded by films, Kareena did not initially plan to become an actress.<\/p>\n

As a teenager, Kareena had academic ambitions. She wanted to study at Harvard and become a lawyer.<\/p>\n

Her father Randhir Kapoor was so proud that he would tell people that his daughter was studying at Harvard.<\/p>\n

Kareena made her Bollywood debut in 2000 with Refugee, opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The film did not perform well at the box office, but Kareena attracted attention for her performance.<\/p>\n

Chameli changed the way people saw her<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of Kareena\u2019s biggest career turning points came with Chameli. She initially refused the role of a sex worker because she was not comfortable playing the character.<\/p>\n

The film helped Kareena move beyond her early image and showed a different side of her acting. She also received the Filmfare Special Jury Award for the performance.<\/p>\n

She later appeared in films including Yuva, Dev, Fida and Aitraaz.<\/p>\n

Kareena\u2019s \u2018cold war\u2019 with Bipasha<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the shooting of Ajnabee<\/em> (2001), Kareena Kapoor reportedly had a disagreement with co-star Bipasha Basu over attention on the sets. The situation escalated after an argument involving Bipasha\u2019s costume arrangements and Kareena\u2019s mother, Babita.<\/p>\n

According to Kareena\u2019s later comments, she confronted Tanya Deol, leading to a heated exchange. Kareena reportedly slapped Bipasha, while Tanya later slapped Kareena. Kareena considered leaving the film after the incident but continued due to the financial loss involved.<\/p>\n

From playback singing to writing books<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kareena has also explored areas beyond acting. She lent her voice as a playback singer for Jab Nahi Aaye from the 2002 film Dev.<\/p>\n

Her relationship with Shahid Kapoor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Married Saif Ali Khan in 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

After her relationship with Shahid ended, Kareena grew closer to Saif Ali Khan while working with him. Their relationship became more serious during the making of Tashan.<\/p>\n
