<\/picture><\/div>\nVoting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections is scheduled today. Voting for day college students will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n For students in the evening shift, voting will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The results will be announced on 19 September.<\/p>\n Only around 2.75 lakh students are eligible to vote in the election. It is the country’s largest student election. In the 2025 election, the ABVP won three of the four posts.<\/p>\n Delhi University has 2 campuses and 91 colleges; elections being held in 52<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n Delhi University has two campuses. The South and North campuses are located around 15 km apart. Together, the two campuses have 91 colleges, but not all DU colleges can vote in the DUSU elections.<\/p>\n Only 52 colleges and faculties directly take part in voting in the DUSU elections. Some prominent colleges, including St Stephen’s, Lady Shri Ram and Jesus and Mary, are also not part of the DUSU.<\/p>\n Several prominent leaders, including Arun Jaitley, have served as DUSU president<\/strong><\/span> Arun Jaitley:<\/strong> He was the DUSU president in 1974 and later became the Union finance and defence minister (BJP).<\/p>\n Vijay Goel:<\/strong> Served as DUSU president in 1977 and later became a Union minister of state in the central government (BJP).<\/p>\n Ajay Maken:<\/strong> Served as DUSU president in 1985 and later became the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (INC).<\/p>\n Alka Lamba:<\/strong> Served as DUSU president in 1995 and later became a legislator in the Delhi Assembly and the national president of Mahila Congress (INC).<\/p>\n Issues being discussed among students…<\/strong><\/span> Delhi High Court expresses displeasure over violence in DUSU elections<\/strong><\/span> The Delhi High Court on Thursday expressed displeasure over the violence taking place during the Delhi University Students’ Union elections. The court said, “Democracy cannot be turned into a society of criminals.”<\/p>\n The court has sought reports by tomorrow from the DU administration, Delhi Police and the government in the matter.<\/p>\n The court also warned that if it was not satisfied with the steps taken, it would stay the counting of votes and the announcement of the results.<\/p>\n The court made the remarks while hearing a public interest litigation related to the violence and hooliganism during the DUSU election campaign.<\/p>\n Students from two groups clashed in North Campus on Wednesday night ahead of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections.
