<\/p>\n Wins Platform Prize at TIFF<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2018Ang\u2019 won the Platform Prize at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The win secured the film a direct entry into the Oscars race. It was also the only Indian film selected for TIFF\u2019s Platform competition this year.<\/p>\n Story of a tribal man<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Directed by Naga filmmaker Theja Rio, the film follows a tribal man who tries to protect his culture from conversion by Christian missionaries.<\/p>\n Film tells the story of saving a culture from Christian missionaries<\/strong><\/p>\n Ang is set in Nagaland in the 1960s, where the arrival of an American missionary begins to change the face of a village. Most of the villagers embrace Christianity and abandon their old traditions, leaving the village almost deserted. The tribal chief, Angba, wants to preserve his culture and traditions, while his son begins to be drawn towards this new lifestyle and religion.<\/p>\n \u20b920,000 Canadian-dollar prize with Oscar entry<\/strong><\/p>\n The film ‘Ang’ premiered on 15 September and was praised by TIFF’s Platform jury for its original thinking, exceptional filmmaking and story.<\/p>\n Under the award, the makers received a cash prize of C$20,000. This year, 33 films, including Dhurandhar<\/em>, Border 2<\/em> and Hanuman Ansh<\/em>, were in the race to represent India at the Oscars.<\/p>\n Gondhal is a psychological thriller film<\/strong><\/p>\n With a runtime of two hours, this Marathi film is a psychological thriller based on the folk tradition and religious ritual of Gondhal in rural Maharashtra. The film has been written and directed by Santosh Davkhar.<\/p>\n The film’s story revolves around the overnight Gondhal ritual held at the home of newlyweds Anand and Suman.
