A video showing a Class 10 student allegedly being mistreated by some youths in Jamui has gone viral on social media, with the footage showing them engaging in obscene acts with the girl.<\/p>\n

One of the youths is seen touching her private parts, while another appears to lift her onto his lap in an indecent manner, and the girl is also seen being dragged.<\/p>\n

Police took action after two videos went viral on social media and launched an investigation. Three people have been arrested. The SP said the incident took place on Saturday evening (19 September). Both minors are Class 10 students, are friends and live in Jamui city.<\/p>\n

After coaching classes on Saturday, the two went on a scooter to visit Madwa Pahar. On their way back, some youths stopped them on the road. They allegedly misbehaved with the two during the incident. Someone recorded the entire incident on video.<\/p>\n

In the first video, the girl is stopped and asked her name and address<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the first video, some youths stop the girl on the road. While touching her body inappropriately, they ask her, “Where do you live? What is your name?” The girl answers their questions.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, some youths separate the boy accompanying the girl from her. The boy is seen standing apart, while the youths surround the girl. After this, some youths molest the girl by touching her private parts and drag her along the road. The girl is dragged in this manner for a long time.<\/p>\n

Obscenity continued for around 20 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n

During this time, some youths come forward to rescue her and free the girl from them. But shortly afterwards, some other youths grab the girl again. After this, the harassment and dragging of the girl start again. In the video, some youths are repeatedly seen grabbing the girl, while others try to free her.<\/p>\n

The entire sequence of events reportedly continued for around 20 minutes. However, two videos related to the incident have emerged. One is around 1 minute and 2 seconds long, while the other is around 35 seconds long.<\/p>\n

After this, some young men make way for the girl to leave. The video shows the girl leaving the spot. In the two videos, the girl and the boy accompanying her can be seen surrounded by the young men at different times.<\/p>\n

Rahul Gandhi said: “The video is deeply disturbing”<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has posted about the matter on social media. Writing on X, he said, “A video from Jamui in Bihar is deeply disturbing. A Class 10 boy and girl were forcibly stopped on the way.<\/p>\n

They were harassed and humiliated, and the girl was subjected to abuse. The girl kept pleading with folded hands to be allowed to leave, but the goons continued to touch her inappropriately and manhandle her.”<\/p>\n

Who gave these people the right to behave so disgracefully? This is not “culture”; it is patriarchy – the belief that any man has control over a girl’s body, her movements and her likes and dislikes. When ‘blind devotees’ treat such thinking as normal by considering control to be culture, the crowd begins to believe that it is the law.<\/p>\n

SP says youths have been identified<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After the video emerged, Jamui Police took cognisance of the matter and began an investigation. Police are also gathering information about the minor student boy and girl and their families.<\/p>\n

The full truth behind the viral video and the claims related to the incident will emerge only after the investigation is completed. For now, police are investigating the matter.<\/p>\n

Jamui SP Vishwajit Dayal said a case had been registered at Nagar Police Station and action initiated over the viral video and incident involving the harassment and mistreatment of a boy and a girl on the road.<\/p>\n

The SP said the incident took place on the evening of 19 September. The minor victims and their families had not informed the police about the incident. After the video went viral, police began investigating the matter and contacted the victims.<\/p>\n

He said that, “no accused had been named in the first information report. The accused are being identified during the investigation on the basis of videos and other evidence. After the arrest of the main accused, the role of the other accused will also be investigated based on his information.\u201d<\/p>\n

Calling the incident unfortunate, the SP said that strict action would be taken against all those involved in the case on the basis of the evidence. He said that as the case involved minors, the family had not lodged an immediate complaint.<\/p>\n

The detained youths are aged 25 to 30<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Jamui Police took immediate action and detained three youths named Mithilesh, Pramod and Golu. They are reportedly aged between 25 and 30. Meanwhile, the Bihar Women’s Commission has spoken to the Jamui District Magistrate about the matter.<\/p>\n

Commission chairperson Prof. Apsara Mishra said that information had been sought from the Jamui District Magistrate regarding the viral video. The District Magistrate said an FIR had been registered in the matter and that some people had also been arrested.<\/p>\n

She said that some of the accused were yet to be arrested and would be arrested today. It was said that complete information about the matter would be provided in the evening.<\/p>\n
