Kartik Aaryan won the Best Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards on Tuesday for the film ‘Chandu Champion’. He shared the award with Mammootty, who received it for ‘Brahmayugam’.<\/p>\n

Kartik Aaryan underwent the biggest transformation of his life for the film ‘Chandu Champion’.<\/p>\n

‘Chandu Champion’ was based on the life of India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. To portray Murlikant in the film, Kartik had to work not only on his physique but also on his boxing skills. He trained continuously for around 14 months for the role.<\/p>\n

National-level boxer and fitness coach Tridev Pandey helped Kartik with his body transformation. In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar in 2024, Tridev shared several details about Kartik’s training.<\/p>\n

Kartik Aaryan won his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the film ‘Chandu Champion’ at the 70th Filmfare Awards held in 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

Training began at a weight of 90 kilos<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Tridev, when training began for the film, Kartik weighed 90 kilos. The goal was to bring his weight down to between 69 and 75 kilos. Alongside this, he had to be prepared to adopt a boxer’s techniques and mannerisms.<\/p>\n

Tridev had said that the aim was not merely to build Kartik’s physique. The film featured proper boxing scenes, so it was essential to prepare him like a boxer. For this, particular attention was paid to hand-eye coordination during training.<\/p>\n

In boxing, it is essential to keep an eye on the opponent’s every movement. According to Tridev, things can change within microseconds in this sport. Karthik was therefore trained to keep his eyes on the target and react quickly accordingly.<\/p>\n

He had to take several punches during training<\/strong><\/p>\n

Learning boxing was not easy for Karthik. Tridev had said that Karthik took several punches from him during training. He was also injured on his face and stomach on several occasions.<\/p>\n

Karthik had to endure considerable pain during training. On several occasions, he would tell Tridev, ‘Hit me gently, brother.’ Despite this, he continued training as required for the film.<\/p>\n

12 Eggs in His Diet, Avoided Sweets for a Year<\/strong><\/p>\n

Special attention was also paid to Kartik’s diet. According to Tridev, 12 eggs were included in his diet during the 14 months of training. He did not eat meat.<\/p>\n

To reduce his body fat, Kartik avoided sweets for nearly a year. Tridev had said that people believed it was impossible to build a physique without meat, but Kartik’s physique for ‘Chandu Champion’ was proof to the contrary.<\/p>\n

For the film ‘Chandu Champion’, Kartik Aaryan reduced his body fat from 39% to just 7%.<\/span><\/p>\n

He Was Paid \u20b970,000 for His First Film<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kartik Aaryan, who came from an ordinary family in Gwalior, struggled for a long time to establish himself in Bollywood. Born on 22 November 1990, Kartik came to Mumbai to study engineering, but his dream was not to become an engineer; it was to become an actor.<\/p>\n

Alongside college, he began auditioning for films. His family was not very aware of this either. He would look for information about auditions and then travel by local train from Belapur to Andheri. Several times, he changed his clothes in station washrooms before attending auditions. This routine continued for around two to three years.<\/p>\n

\"Love<\/picture><\/div>\n

Love Ranjan made his directorial debut with the film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’. Karthik Aaryan also entered the world of acting with this film.<\/span><\/p>\n

During this period, he learnt about the audition for the film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ through Facebook. Karthik was rejected at his first attempt. No call came for around six months. Despite this, he did not give up. He even asked the production house to return his photographs so that he could use them for another audition.<\/p>\n

He was then called for another audition. Different rounds were held over around six months. For the final audition, he was given a five-page monologue. He had to perform it the next day. Karthik memorised it and passed the audition.<\/p>\n

In 2011, Kartik played the role of Rajat, or Rajjo, in ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’. He was paid around \u20b970,000 for the film. His lengthy monologue in the film became a major talking point. However, the journey afterwards was not easy.<\/p>\n

‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ changed his career in 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Films such as ‘Akaash Vani’ and ‘Kanchi’ did not achieve much success. There was a time when Kartik began to feel that he might not get any more work, but in 2018, ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ changed his career. The film was a hit, and Kartik’s popularity grew rapidly.<\/p>\n

Kartik Aaryan’s film ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ (2018) had a total budget of around \u20b925 crore and earned \u20b9152-156 crore at the box office.<\/span><\/p>\n

After this, films such as ‘Luka Chuppi’ and ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ further strengthened his popularity. Then, in 2022, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ placed him among the list of major commercial stars.<\/p>\n

Kartik then chose different kinds of roles as well. After ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’, he played the role of Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar in ‘Chandu Champion’.<\/p>\n

Fee rose from \u20b970,000 to \u20b920 crore<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kartik, who once worked in a film for \u20b970,000, also had a moment in his life when he was paid \u20b920 crore for a role that required just 10 days of work.<\/p>\n

Kartik Aaryan had said on Aap Ki Adalat that he charged \u20b920 crore for just 10 days of shooting for one of his films during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although he did not name the film, reports suggest it was Dhamaka<\/em> (2021).<\/p>\n

Anant Nag: Failed in Class 10, now receives Dadasaheb Phalke Award<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anant Nag received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024. The honour was presented to him for his film career spanning more than five decades. Anant Nag has worked in more than 300 films, including films in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi and Malayalam cinema.<\/p>\n

However, his journey to this point was not easy. Anant Nag lived in several schools and ashrams during his childhood. He moved to Mumbai for his education at around 11 years of age.<\/p>\n

Studying here in English medium after having studied in Kannada was difficult for him. He failed his Class 10 examination because of difficulties with the language and his studies. However, he later completed his Class 10 education. He studied up to Class 11.<\/p>\n

\"Anant<\/picture><\/div>\n

Anant Nag was also awarded an honorary doctorate by Bengaluru North University in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

His parents wanted him to become a doctor or an engineer, but after facing persistent difficulties in his studies, Anant began looking for another path. The wars of 1962 and 1965 had a profound impact on him, and he decided to join the army. During his school days, he also joined the NCC and the Auxiliary Cadet Corps. But he did not succeed in the army either. The Indian Army rejected him on medical grounds because of his low weight. He was also not selected for the Air Force because of his poor eyesight. With one path after another closing, he was worried about his future.<\/p>\n

Performed in more than 50 plays in five years<\/strong><\/p>\n

Theatre then entered Anant Nag’s life. At first, he did not have a fixed career in acting, but as he continued working on stage, he began to regain his confidence. Over the next five years, he worked in more than 50 plays. He acted in Kannada, Konkani, Marathi and Hindi theatre. During this period, he also had the opportunity to learn from artistes such as Satyadev Dubey, Girish Karnad and Amol Palekar.<\/p>\n

In 1973, Anant Nag made his debut with the Kannada film ‘Sankalp’. That same year, he also made his mark in Hindi cinema with Shyam Benegal’s ‘Ankur’. He went on to work in films such as ‘Nishant’, ‘Manthan’ and ‘Bhumika’. On television, ‘Malgudi Days’ also took him into homes across the country.<\/p>\n

His journey continued for more than five decades. Alongside working in Kannada cinema, he acted in several languages and appeared in more than 300 films. He has also received five Filmfare Awards and five Karnataka State Best Actor Awards. In 2025, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan.<\/p>\n
