The Madhya Pradesh government will conduct a special PM SVANidhi Fortnight from August 1 to 15, 2026, under the Centre’s PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme aimed at making street vendors financially self-reliant.
The Urban Development and Housing Department has set a target of receiving 20 lakh new applications and resolving around 2 lakh pending and previously rejected cases during the fortnight.
The campaign will be conducted in mission mode across all districts, urban local bodies and relevant census towns in Madhya Pradesh.
This year’s theme is “Svanidhi Se Samriddhi: Towards a Self-Reliant Urban Madhya Pradesh.” The campaign will include awareness programmes, special camps, bank coordination meetings, beneficiary outreach drives and digital communication activities to ensure that more eligible street vendors benefit from the scheme.
Focus on resolving pending cases
Around 2 lakh pending and previously rejected applications will be reviewed during the special fortnight.
Special meetings of Block Level Bankers’ Committees (BLBCs) and District Level Bankers’ Committees (DLBCs) will also be organised.
The campaign will focus on integrating PMAY-BLC beneficiaries with the scheme, distributing loans and credit cards, resolving pending loan cases, promoting digital payments and strengthening coordination between banks and urban local bodies.
Over 10.30 lakh street vendors have benefited in MP
More than 10.30 lakh street vendors in Madhya Pradesh have benefited from the scheme so far.
Under PM SVANidhi, more than ₹2,802.84 crore has been disbursed through 16.35 lakh loan cases. Around 40% of the beneficiaries are women.
More than 7.17 lakh street vendors are also using digital transactions and have received over ₹53.85 crore in cashback so far.
Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries can avail themselves of loans of up to ₹15,000, ₹25,000 and ₹50,000 in a phased manner. UPI-linked credit cards with a limit of up to ₹30,000 are also being provided.
Indore leads the country
Among urban local bodies, the Indore Municipal Corporation has secured the top position nationally by distributing 41,122 loan cases.
Bhopal and Jabalpur municipal corporations, along with the Ujjain Municipal Corporation and Sarni Municipality, have also secured notable positions at the national level in their respective categories.
The Urban Development and Housing Department has appealed to all urban local bodies, banking institutions and concerned departments to make the special campaign a people-driven mission and ensure that every eligible street vendor gets access to the benefits of PM SVANidhi.
