The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which gained attention during the NEET-UG paper leak protests, has decided not to enter electoral politics for the time being.
Founder Abhijeet Dipke said the organisation would continue to function as a pressure group, stating that “India currently needs a strong pressure group, so CJP will work in that role for now.”
CJP spokesperson Saurav Dav said the organisation is in talks with the government to seek the withdrawal of FIRs filed against student protesters.
He added that preparations are also underway to provide legal and medical assistance to those injured during the protests.
Dav said social activist Sonam Wangchuk will continue to mentor the organisation, with CJP seeking his guidance on key decisions from time to time.
The organisation is scheduled to hold a key meeting at Dipke’s residence in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, on Tuesday.
According to Dipke, the meeting will review the Jantar Mantar protest, discuss the expansion of the organisation, and chalk out its future strategy.
