UP & Bihar Rivers In Spate

The monsoon has intensified across several parts of the country, with continuous rainfall reported in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh over the past 24 hours.

Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal witnessed the heaviest impact, receiving around 7 inches of rain in 24 hours. In view of the heavy rain alert, all schools in Bhopal will remain closed on Tuesday.

A low-pressure area is currently active over Madhya Pradesh, while the monsoon trough passing through Gwalior is bringing moisture into the state. Heavy rainfall has been reported in 11 districts.

In Uttar Pradesh, more than 30 cities, including Lucknow and Noida, received rain on Monday. Ten rivers, including the Ganga and Yamuna, are in spate, while floods have affected around 40 villages in Farrukhabad.

Rajasthan also witnessed heavy rainfall in Jhalawar, Kota and Bundi. Jhalawar recorded the highest rainfall at around 12 inches. The gates of the Kalisindh Dam and Kota’s Nonera-Aibra Dam have been opened amid rising water levels.

The monsoon remains active in Bihar, where several districts have received rain over the past few days. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rainfall in 12 districts.
