Supreme Court Seeks West Bengal Voter List Revision Tribunal Data

The Supreme Court has sought details from the Election Commission on cases involving voters whose names were deleted from the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal.

The Court has specifically asked the EC to provide information on the decisions taken by appellate tribunals in cases filed by people challenging the deletion of their names from the voter list.

The direction came during the hearing of a petition filed by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who has sought the speedy disposal of SIR-related cases pending before the appellate tribunals in West Bengal.
