Another spell of rain has started in Madhya Pradesh. A strong monsoon system is active in the eastern parts of the Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for 12 districts on Saturday. Here, more than 4 inches of rain may occur in 24 hours.
Delhi received rain in several parts on Friday, leading to waterlogging in many areas. IMD has issued an orange alert for Saturday. Light to moderate rain is also expected to continue in many places.
In UP, 60 cities, including Lucknow, Noida, and Ghaziabad, received rain on Friday. Streets in Noida and Jhansi were waterlogged up to two to three feet. A 45-year-old woman died due to lightning in Sambhal. According to IMD, heavy rain is also likely across the state on Saturday.
In Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharsawan district, a mud house suddenly collapsed on Friday amidst continuous rain. 3 women were seriously injured in the accident. Meanwhile, in the neighboring East Singhbhum district, the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers are flowing above the danger mark.
Monsoon is going to be active once again in Bihar. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 18 districts, including Patna. Lightning strikes are also feared in some places. The water level of the Baya River, a tributary of the Ganga, has risen in Samastipur. An estimated 50,000 people in about 10 villages are affected.
