
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has said that he has faced losses of around ₹200-250 crore over the past 13 years, amid his ongoing cheque bounce and loan-related disputes.
Speaking to news agency ANI, the 55-year-old actor said he takes responsibility for his financial obligations and is committed to repaying those who are owed money, even if it means personally delivering the payment to them.
His remarks come after the Central Bank of India issued an auction notice for his ancestral property over the alleged non-repayment of a ₹16 crore loan.

In a conversation with ANI, Rajpal said that he will repay everyone’s debt.
Says he earned less and missed over 50 foreign tours
Rajpal Yadav said he faced the biggest financial setback between 2013 and 2016. According to him, he missed out on at least 50 opportunities to travel abroad, while his earnings also dropped significantly during this period.
Explaining the difference in his fees, Rajpal said that he was sometimes paid only ₹10 when he believed his work deserved ₹100. However, he added that, as a student of the arts, he values perfection in his craft more than money.

‘I will make sure everyone gets their money’
Speaking about his financial situation and debts, Rajpal Yadav said he has either repaid or will soon repay everyone from whom he has borrowed money. He said that even if he owes money to 200 people, he will ensure that each person receives what they are owed.
Rajpal added that neither ₹5 crore nor ₹250 crore can define or buy him. He said his financial troubles do not represent his entire career, adding that even today, around 500 people ask him for selfies at airports.
Bank to auction property worth ₹3.10 crore
Action has been initiated against Rajpal Yadav over the alleged non-repayment of a loan taken from the Central Bank of India. Rajpal had reportedly taken a loan of ₹16.61 crore from the bank’s Mumbai branch in the names of his wife, Radha Yadav, and his mother, Godavari.
Central Bank of India has pasted an attachment notice on his ancestral house in Shahjahanpur regarding the outstanding loan of ₹16.61 crore.
Rajpal, who has been to jail in a check bounce case Rajpal Yadav’s check bounce case started in 2010 when he took a loan of ₹5 crore from Murli Projects Private Limited to make his film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’. This film, released in 2012, flopped. After this, the check bounce case has been ongoing in court since 2013.

Delhi High Court had ordered him to surrender
In July, the Delhi High Court ordered Rajpal Yadav to surrender, questioning his apparent lack of intent to repay the loan. Earlier, in February 2026, he had surrendered at Tihar Jail and spent 12 days there. He is currently preparing for Haiwaan with Akshay Kumar and SVC 63 with Salman Khan.

Became a popular name in comedy
Rajpal Yadav became widely known for his comic roles in films such as Hungama (2003), Garam Masala (2005), Chup Chup Ke and Phir Hera Pheri (2006), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007). He has worked in around eight to ten films with director Priyadarshan. He has also received the Best Versatile Actor Award.
Rajpal was honoured with the Yash Bharti Award, Uttar Pradesh’s highest civilian honour, for his work in the 2003 film Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon. The recognition acknowledged both his comic and serious performances. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were among the prominent personalities who had received the award before him. Rajpal was also nominated for Best Comic Actor awards at platforms including Filmfare and IIFA, but did not win.
‘My first dream in Mumbai was simply to survive’
After completing his studies at the National School of Drama, Rajpal moved to Mumbai. He received little support in the beginning and once said that his first dream in the city was simply to survive. After a period of struggle, he gradually began getting acting opportunities.

During his early years, Rajpal reportedly accommodated and fed around 20-22 struggling actors at his home. Nawazuddin Siddiqui once described Rajpal’s home as being like a langar, where struggling actors could find free food and accommodation.
School friends gave him nicknames because of his height
Rajpal Yadav is around 5 feet 1 inch tall. During his school days, his friends reportedly called him Chhotu and Batla because of his height. At the age of 20, he got a job at the Ordnance Clothing Factory in his village.
Got married at the age of 20
Rajpal has spoken about getting married at around the age of 20 due to family pressure. At the time, he was living in his village and had just begun working.
First wife died 15 minutes after their daughter’s birth
Rajpal’s first wife, Karuna, died 15 minutes after giving birth to their daughter, Jyoti, a year after their marriage. In an interview, Rajpal recalled that he had expected to meet his wife the following day but instead had to carry her body on his shoulders.
He became a single father at a young age, while his mother and sister-in-law helped take care of Jyoti. Rajpal later met his second wife, Radha, in Canada while shooting for Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s Hero: Love Story of a Spy. The two met through a common friend and got married on June 10, 2003.
Launched his own political party in 2016
In 2016, Rajpal launched a political party called the Sarv Sambhav Party (SSP) in Vrindavan. He served as its General Secretary and star campaigner but did not contest elections himself.
The party’s motto was, “Politics of dialogue, not dispute.” Rajpal pledged to work honestly while placing his hand on religious texts including the Gita, Quran, Bible, Guru Granth Sahib and Ramayana, along with the Constitution.
For the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the party announced plans to contest around 390-400 of the state’s 403 seats. Its headquarters were in Lucknow. Rajpal’s brothers, Shripal Singh Yadav and Rajesh Singh Yadav, also contested elections on the party’s ticket, but the party did not achieve any significant success.
Says he survived three life-threatening incidents
Rajpal has said in an interview that he survived three situations that could have cost him his life. He once went into deep water while bathing in the Ganges and lost consciousness. On another occasion, he narrowly escaped being run over by a bullock cart. He has also spoken about surviving a dangerous encounter involving wild dogs
