Rapper Badshah and Punjabi actress Isha Rikhi have announced their separation just five months after getting married. The couple confirmed their divorce through posts shared on their respective Instagram accounts on Monday night.

In his post, Badshah said that the decision was made mutually. He also requested fans and the media to respect their privacy during this difficult time and avoid any speculation.

Reports of trouble in their relationship had been doing the rounds for the past few weeks.

In his statement, Badshah said that he and Isha Rikhi have decided to move ahead on separate paths while maintaining mutual respect. He wrote, “We have taken this decision with mutual consent. We request everyone to respect our privacy at this time. This is our first and last statement on the matter, so we request everyone not to speculate further about our relationship.”

Who is Isha Rikhi?

Reports of tension between Badshah and Isha Rikhi began surfacing in July. On July 26, Isha shared several photos and videos with Badshah on social media along with a post.

In the post, she wrote, “Every storm is a lesson” and added a broken-heart emoji. She later shared a note saying that she had remained silent for a long time out of fear but had now decided to speak up for her self-respect. Around the same time, Isha’s mother, Poonam Rikhi, also shared social media posts about karma.

Isha confirmed her marriage in June

Isha Rikhi confirmed that she had married Badshah during an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on Instagram in June this year. However, even after getting married, the two largely stayed away from discussing their relationship publicly. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Isha may soon appear on Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss 20.

Badshah’s second divorce; has a daughter from his first marriage

This marks Badshah’s second divorce. He was previously married to Jasmine Masih in 2012. The couple welcomed their daughter, Jessemy Grace Masih Singh, in 2017. However, after facing differences in their relationship, Badshah and Jasmine separated in 2020. He later began a relationship with Isha Rikhi.

Badshah’s new song releases amid divorce announcement

Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, began his music career in 2006 with the hip-hop group Mafia Mundeer. He gained wider recognition with the Punjabi song Proper Patola, featuring Diljit Dosanjh, in 2013, followed by DJ Waley Babu in 2015.

He made his Bollywood debut as a singer in 2014 with Saturday Saturday from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The same year, he also featured in Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai from Khoobsurat.

Amid the reports surrounding his personal life, Badshah’s new Marathi hip-hop song Chimna was released on August 31. The track features collaborations with Divya Kumar and Marathi folk artist Nagesh Morwekar.

Badshah has faced several controversies in his career

Genda Phool’ and credit controversy (2020) Badshah’s song Genda Phool, released in March 2020, became controversial over the Bengali lines ‘Boroloker Biti Lo’, which were originally written by Bengali folk artist Ratan Kahar in the 1970s. Kahar was initially not credited in the song, leading to criticism. Badshah later said that the song was registered as a traditional Bengali folk song in official records. He subsequently contacted Ratan Kahar and provided him with financial assistance of ₹5 lakh.

Fake views and followers case (2020) In August 2020, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch investigated a racket involving the sale of fake social media followers and views. Badshah was questioned by the police during the investigation. Police officials alleged that he had paid ₹72 lakh to purchase 7.2 crore fake views for his song Paagal to create a record within 24 hours. Badshah denied the allegations and said that he had not used any such service.
