Budgam Terrorist Killed in Joint Operation

A terrorist was killed in a joint operation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the forests of Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday.

The Chinar Corps shared details of the operation in a post on X.

The operation was carried out in the Ashdar Gali area inside the forest. Security forces suspect that another terrorist may be hiding there. A search operation is underway to find them.

According to officials, the identity of the killed terrorist has not yet been confirmed. An AK rifle was recovered from the spot.

Operation based on information about movement from Pulwama to Budgam

Officials said security forces had received information about a suspected group of terrorists moving from Pakherpora in Pulwama district towards Yusmarg in Budgam.

Following this information, the operation was launched.

The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said on X that, based on specific intelligence, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint search operation in Ashdar Gali, Budgam.

Firing occurred after suspicious activity was spotted

According to the Chinar Corps, alert soldiers noticed suspicious activity. The soldiers challenged the terrorists, following which the terrorists opened fire.

An intense exchange of fire then took place between the security forces and the terrorists. One terrorist was killed in the encounter, and an AK rifle was recovered. A search operation is currently underway in the area.

Security forces are searching for the second terrorist, who is suspected to be hiding in the same area. No information about his location or identity has been received yet.

Encounter after a gap of several months

The encounter took place in the Valley after a gap of several months. Officials said the operation is still underway.
