A Tamil Nadu woman who went to Kuwait for domestic work has released a video alleging that she is being harassed.
She said she has not been given proper food for the past 50 days and has not been paid her salary for two months.
The woman claimed that she has been treated badly for around two months. She appealed for help and asked to be brought back to India.
Woman is from Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu
The woman has been identified as Vanitha. She is from Kallakurichi district in Tamil Nadu and travelled to Kuwait for domestic work around three months ago.
In a video shared on social media, Vanitha can be seen with folded hands, asking for help from inside a room.
In the video, Vanitha makes an appeal in Tamil. She says, “I can no longer bear this. Please rescue me and bring me back to India.”
Family appeals to the administration
After the video surfaced, the Tamil Nadu administration traced the woman’s family. Vanitha’s mother, Vennila, and other family members have filed a complaint seeking her safe return.
Vennila alleged that the agent who sent her daughter to Kuwait had cheated the family.
She said Vanitha had gone to Kuwait to financially support her family but was being treated very badly there. Vennila appealed to the district administration to bring her daughter safely back to India.
Administration begins action
The Kallakurichi Superintendent of Police said a complaint had been received from Vanitha’s family.
However, the allegations made by Vanitha and her family regarding harassment, non-payment of salary and lack of proper food have not yet been independently verified.
Around 10.60 lakh Indians in Kuwait
According to Ministry of External Affairs data up to March 2026, around 10.60 lakh Indian citizens are living in Kuwait.
This includes Indians working in Kuwait as well as other Indian citizens. In 2024, the number was around 10.08 lakh.
